FIELD REPORT DU HQ | From Wherever It May Be Said
I think it’s time to dump the idea jar and see what we can sort out for this week’s catch-all Report. First and foremost, veteran rock documentary producers Gorman Berchard and Fred Uhter will be hosting the world premiere of WHERE ARE YOU, JAY BENNETT? at the Davis Theater in Chicago next Monday, November 15; you can visit Eventive to purchase a sliding-scale ticket to the 7 p.m. show and read details about a tribute concert afterwards at the Carbon Arc Bar & Board next door. Helped along by CUBlog friend and former Bennett collaborator Edward Burch, JAY BENNETT has been more than four years in the making. Secondly, fellow CUBlog friend Steve Christopher shared last week on Facebook that a conspiracy-themed series called WRATH & RITUALS is currently taping episodes in downstate Lincoln; director Candice T. Cain of Gemelli Films in Brookhaven, NY, returned to the area with her crew after doing location work in nearby Morton back in May. That Gemelli feature, BAKING UP LOVE, has already premiered on Amazon Prime and Pure Flix, an example of the company feeding its faith-based target audience with fast-paced precision. To close, the Central Illinois Film Commission has arranged for “The Hollywood Experience” to take place this Sunday, November 14, starting 1 p.m. at the Hoogland Center for the Arts in downtown Springfield, presumably to coincide with the Route 66 Film Festival. Considering how they’ve pretty much shut down a social media presence – their Twitter has been dormant since 2019 and the Facebook group is not exactly a fount of free-flowing information – it apparently will cost CIFC members $25 and non-members $50 to hear tales of the trade from a roll call of long-time CIFC participants: Jim Conover, Bill Homel, Eric Hector, Tim Lynn, Robert Bartel, and more. The membership will also net access to an e-mail digest and other bonus resources. Get it if you want in.
