Thursday, October 11, 7 p.m.: It may be odd to retroactively list an event, but I’ve already plugged this one for three weeks running and I appreciate these folks’ efforts. The fall Human Rights Film Series concludes with LETTERS FROM THE OTHER SIDE, which edits together “video letters” from Mexico to the United States detailing the economic despair of low-income workers at the mercy of globalization. @ Illinois Disciples Foundation, 610 E. Springfield Ave., Champaign. Friday, October 12 & Saturday, October 13, Midnight: Who says you can’t do the “Time Warp” again? Get thee down to the Soy Capital for rare screenings of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) accompanied by a “shadow cast” of Millikin University students who will make sure you take a jump to the left, a step to the right, and chuck handfuls of rice at all the right moments. @ Avon Theatre, 426 N. Sunday, October 14, 7 p.m.: The Food Film Fest will feature three shorts concerning food and farming as well as a meet-and-greet to discuss local crop sustinence with academics and professionals in the field. On the menu: YUM, YUM, YUM! (1990) from Floridian filmmaker Les Blank, the Oscar-winning THE ACCOUNTANT! (2001), and the Sierra Club production THE TRUE COST OF FOOD (2005). Tuesday, October 16, 7 p.m.: Screening of the feature-length documentary MUTINY: ASIANS STORM BRITISH MUSIC (2003) with producer/director Vivek Bald in attendance.
