Register for IFV competition now!

Illini Film & Video has finally turned the corner in its love affair with competitions by establishing one with a bona fide hook. The 49 Hour Film Competition will give teams the weekend Daylight Savings Time kicks in – Friday, November 2, 7 p.m. to Sunday, November 4, 7 p.m. – to completely shoot and edit a short film running less than five minutes and featuring “a prop, a line of dialogue, and a [specific] shot” to be revealed once entrants check in.

The wording on the 49 Hour Web site appeals to a campus-wide involvement, although one must have a university NetID to sign up a team. (At-large community members might be able to participate in tandem with UIUC students, faculty, and/or staff; team leaders should probably inquire about this one beforehand.) Registration is open as of today and will close at the end of Wednesday, October 31, so make sure you get on the list now!

All films will be shown and prizes awarded at a screening in the UIUC Natural History Building on Saturday, November 9. We’ll pass along more details on this event when we receive them.
