TTC revived by ancient beliefs

It’s time to school ourselves on marshaling unseen forces this Friday, October 26, as the Time Traveling Cinema attracts its cinema-loving coe-ven to SoDo Theatre, 114 S. Neil St., Champaign, IL, starting at 10 p.m.! In this installment, which takes the place of our previously announced H.P. Lovecraft event, we conjure visions from the very early 20th century starting with WHITE ZOMBIE (1932), a rarely seen Bela Lugosi voudoun programmer set in Haiti, and continuing with HÄXAN (1922), a Danish pseudo-documentary covering the history of witchcraft through the ages. In fact, the TTC will most likely present the shortened U.S. release titled WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES (1968) which features a jazz score as well as narration from the incomparable William S. Burroughs (The Naked Lunch). One or two surprises may also sneak into the program by show time, but we’ll aim to wrap these wily shenanigans within the witching hour so you can extend your pre-Halloween evening elsewhere!

We hope you will reserve a little time this Friday to enjoy the voodoo that The Psychic Joker and C-U Confidential do via the Time Traveling Cinema, a community micro-cinema concept set in a clean and safe environment, newly remodeled and sporting upgraded equipment for an enhanced movie experience! Announcements regarding changes in the TTC experience are forthcoming so you’ll want to stick with us for the details!

p.s. We’d like to be neighborly and remind you that our friends behind the Freeky Creek Short Film Festival over at Sleepy Creek Vineyards in Fairmount will kick off their third annual presentation of horrific and darkly funny things tonight, Thursday, October 25, beginning at 7 p.m. Go enjoy!
