Blue Bassoon gets REEL in Chicago

Champaign filmmaker Alaric Rocha of Blue Bassoon Pictures recently told C-U Blogfidential that his short film, I THINK YOU’RE F***ING STUPID, has been chosen to play the upcoming Chicago International REEL Shorts Festival in the “Demented/Whacky/Bizarre” program on Saturday, September 30, at 10:30 p.m. Founded by Project Chicago, the event will take place at the Davis Theater, 4614 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, from September 29 to October 1; click here for the complete schedule and ticket information. REEL Shorts awarded an “Honorable Mention” to another local production, Chris Folkens’ TOXIN, in 2005.

Rocha is also fine-tuning the post-production work on his current project, MERRY CHRISTMAS!, a black comedy shot throughout Champaign-Urbana earlier this year. Starring a who’s-who of area stage talent, including Greg Wolf, Cara Skottene, Janice Rothbaum, Mike Trippiedi, Leila Ramagopal, and John Dowers, MERRY CHRISTMAS! literally drops one George Bailey (played by Wolf) and his fiancee Bess (played by Skottene) right in the middle of a Tarantino/Ritchie face-off on Christmas eve, which turns out to be a much larger blunder than initially meets the eye. Check out the Blue Bassoon Web site for further details on Rocha’s films.
