Recently, we launched an article series in C-U Confidential<\/strong><\/span> where we reprint and contextualize samples of movie writing by area authors that originally appeared elsewhere. We encourage you to pick up Rausch\u2019s hard-won compendium if you wish to read Mr. JaPan<\/strong>\u2019s contribution, \u201cDo Go \u2018Hateful\u2019 Into This Good Night<\/strong>,\u201d while Tarantino fans will glean plenty about the self-styled Hollywood<\/strong> maverick behind THE HATEFUL EIGHT, INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, KILL BILL VOL. 1 & 2<\/strong>, and JACKIE BROWN<\/strong> from discussions with friends and early coworkers, entertainment industry veterans, small-press editor Mike White<\/strong> (Cashiers du Cinemart<\/strong><\/span>), and genre heavyweights like Guillermo del Toro<\/strong> (PACIFIC RIM<\/strong>), Monte Hellman<\/strong> (TWO-LANE BLACKTOP<\/strong>), Robert Kurtzman<\/strong> (IT FOLLOWS<\/strong>), Tom Savini<\/strong> (DAWN OF THE DEAD<\/strong>), and Matt Wagner<\/strong> (Grendel<\/strong><\/span>). Rausch, a former contributor to MICRO-FILM<\/strong>, has composed numerous features for periodicals such as Screem<\/strong><\/span> and Shock Cinema<\/strong><\/span> as well as books on Orson Welles, Martin Scorsese<\/strong>, and Ed Wood, Jr.<\/strong>; he also co-authored a memoir by the just-passed \u201cGodfather of Gore,\u201d Herschell Gordon Lewis<\/strong> (TWO THOUSAND MANIACS<\/strong>).
