Between placating that preordained Disneyfied Lucasfix of yours as well as covering holiday shopping, costs of living, end-of-year taxes, and so on, you\u2019re otherwise strapped for dollars and time as 2016 nears its conclusion. We\u2019re not imploring you to partake in cinema-going this week since the galactic extravaganza you desire is not very far, far away. However, <em>do<\/em> pay mind to the many other people who simply can\u2019t or won\u2019t expend the cash flow or enthusiasm on this (or any) Mouse House brand. For those discerning individuals, \u201c<strong>FOW<\/strong>\u201d exists. Smart(er) science fiction is already playing a theater near you such as <strong>ARRIVAL<\/strong> (<strong>Paramount Pictures<\/strong>), directed by <strong>Denis Villeneuve<\/strong> and starring <strong>Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner<\/strong>, and <strong>Forest Whitaker<\/strong> in the story of a linguist\u2019s attempts to communicate with an alien life form landed on <strong>Earth<\/strong>, and <strong>CHILDREN OF MEN<\/strong> (<strong>Universal Pictures<\/strong>), the acclaimed 2006 dystopian tale directed by <strong>Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n<\/strong> and starring <strong>Clive Owen, Julianne Moore<\/strong>, and <strong>Michael Caine<\/strong>, wherein the planet is war-torn, our species infertile, and <strong>Great Britain<\/strong> bent on repelling immigrants as it has been transformed into a police state.
