Our gut feeling tells us this week\u2019s \u201cFOW<\/strong>\u201d should be rechristened \u201cFilm-fun of the Week<\/strong>\u201d as various activities inherent to the process of making movies will take place in town. We therefore imagine you lovely peoples and young ones would investigate of such opportunities when presented, yes? The first instance is set for tomorrow, Sat., 2\/4<\/strong>, 4<\/strong> to 5:45 p.m.<\/strong>, at the Urbana Free Library<\/strong> in an undisclosed location \u2013 best guess is the lower level meeting room \u2013 where the recently formed Protagonist Pizza Productions<\/strong><\/a><\/span> will welcome acting talent to try out for their upcoming projects; founders Nic Morse<\/strong> and Janjay Knowlden<\/strong> have begun contributing to Smile Politely<\/strong><\/span> via video, so this offering will give you an idea<\/a><\/span> of their personality if not script needs. A week later on Sat., 2\/11, 11 a.m.<\/strong> to 12 p.m.<\/strong>, the folks at Champaign-Urbana Film Society<\/strong> will offer area grade school students a public workshop, geared towards writing Pens to Lens<\/strong> screenplays<\/a><\/span>, in the Robeson Pavilion<\/strong> rooms of the Champaign Public Library<\/strong>; submission deadline is at the end of Tues, 2\/28<\/strong>, for entries from both K-8 and 9-12 students to be reviewed and possibly turned into film shorts this summer. Almost a week after that, our gang at Champaign Movie Makers<\/strong> launches their second annual \u201cCMM 48 Hr Film Fest<\/strong><\/a><\/span>;\u201d preregistered teams will receive their prompts at 7 p.m.<\/strong> on Fri., 2\/17<\/strong>, and have exactly two days to create and turn in their pieces, which will be screened the following week.
