By contrast, the <strong>Art Theater Co-op<\/strong> presents on <strong>Mon., 2\/20, 7 p.m.<\/strong>, a fully-restored print of writer\/director <strong>Julie Dash<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST<\/strong> (<strong>Cohen Media Group<\/strong>), the landmark drama from 1991 chronicling the lives of African-American slave descendants living off the coast of <strong>Georgia<\/strong> in the early 1900s; an overt dilemma is faced when an extended family on one island, led by African traditionalist and matriarch Nana (<strong>Cora Lee Day<\/strong>), is coerced to relocate to the Northern states as part of the <strong>Great Migration<\/strong>. Elsewhere, expression in a longstanding writing form plays a central role in two non-Hollywood features coming to the area for the first time. <strong>NERUDA<\/strong> (<strong>The Orchard\/Participant Media<\/strong>), directed by <strong>JACKIE<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Pablo Larra\u00edn<\/strong> and starring <strong>Gael Garc\u00eda Bernal, Luis Gnecco<\/strong>, and <strong>Mercedes Mor\u00e1n<\/strong>, is a partly fictionalized account of how <strong>Chilean<\/strong> poet and politician <strong>Pablo Neruda<\/strong> evades authorities after going into exile in 1948 due to his Communist leanings; the Normal will show this acclaimed \u201canti-biopic\u201d at <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong> on <strong>Sun., 2\/19<\/strong>. <strong>PATERSON<\/strong> (<strong>Bleecker Street Media\/Amazon Studios<\/strong>), written and directed by <strong>Jim Jarmusch<\/strong>, is a low-key charmer with <strong>Adam Driver<\/strong> as the title character, a bus driver and prolific closet poet living in <strong>Paterson, NJ<\/strong>, and <strong>Golshifteh Farahani<\/strong> as his stay-at-home partner who is also a beautiful dreamer.
