Today, we tease you with a covert group shot of this mischievous crew\u00a0taken just a few blocks away. Who\u00a0<em>is<\/em> the ukelele-toting jester with the giggling entourage, and why are they all <em>here<\/em> on the Main Quad?\u00a0Answers most certainly\u00a0follow!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The tools of the trade are a mix of specialized equipment and commonplace items\" alt=\"The tools of the trade are a mix of specialized equipment and commonplace items\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_pagal_dil_B.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Summertime fun for the college-age, C-U born-and-bred minds behind <strong>Mongoose Productions<\/strong> includes making art, so when co-founders <strong>Sam Ambler<\/strong> (<em>above right<\/em>, with <strong>Morgan Reisman<\/strong>) and <strong>Gabrielle Reisman<\/strong> returned home, they recruited family, friends, and welcome strangers to help make the short film <strong>PAGAL DIL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Foellinger Auditorium played the part of Harvard University at the end of WITH HONORS (1994)\" alt=\"Foellinger Auditorium played the part of Harvard University at the end of WITH HONORS (1994)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_pagal_dil_C.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>PAGAL DIL<\/strong>, or &#8220;Crazy Love,&#8221; condenses the charming qualities of a Bollywood musical extravaganza into less than 10 minutes and sets the activity before several local backdrops, such as <strong>Foellinger Auditorium<\/strong> on the <strong>University of Illinois Main Quad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Tonie Sadler, Ernie Springer, and company swoon to vintage Bollywood music\" alt=\"Tonie Sadler, Ernie Springer, and company swoon to vintage Bollywood music\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_pagal_dil_D.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">On this day&#8217;s shooting, Mongoose Productions attracted dozens of extras to play the background dancers in the climax. While Ambler concentrated on the composition and shooting of each sequence, Reisman walked everyone through the choreography.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Their eyes meet. Their hearts race. Their love rules. And they can dance!\" alt=\"Their eyes meet. Their hearts race. Their love rules. And they can dance!\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_pagal_dil_E.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">In <strong>PAGAL DIL<\/strong>, a young woman played by <strong>Tonie Sadler<\/strong> (<em>left<\/em>) and a young man played by <strong>Ernie Springer<\/strong> (<em>right<\/em>) fall in love from a distance, compromised by an interloping &#8220;evil twin&#8221; also played by Springer. Through dance and song (and ukelele interludes provided by the Duke of Uke, <strong>Dave King<\/strong>), all is set right by the end credits.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Gabrielle Reisman demonstrates how best to escort Ernie Springer through the crowd\" alt=\"Gabrielle Reisman demonstrates how best to escort Ernie Springer through the crowd\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_pagal_dil_F.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Since 2003, Ambler and Reisman have presented their output for public consumption as the <strong>Filmic Dependency Film Festival<\/strong> or <strong>Mongoose Fest<\/strong>, during which <strong>PAGAL DIL<\/strong> premiered this past Saturday (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=108\">see item: 11\/22\/06<\/a>)\u00a0at the <strong>Urbana Independent Media Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"We're not sure what is more amusing, Ernie Springer's scarlet jammies or that raven-sized mustache...\" alt=\"We're not sure what is more amusing, Ernie Springer's scarlet jammies or that raven-sized mustache...\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog%20Art\/cu_pagal_dil_G.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Next for Mongoose Productions\u00a0will be another short called\u00a0<strong>KOMBAL<\/strong>, a Bollywood-style detective story possibly influenced by one of Reisman&#8217;s all-time favorite movies, <strong>DON<\/strong>\u00a0(1978).
