Potential big-ticket projects keep falling into place for Shatterglass Films<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, the narrative offshoot of media producer Shatterglass Studios<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in Champaign<\/strong>, and it\u2019s becoming a bit harder for us to keep up with it all! To that end, we share below the announcement of one such venture, an adaptation of the recently-concluded comic book series Revival<\/span><\/strong> (Image Comics<\/strong>)<\/a><\/span> by Tim Seeley<\/strong> and Mike Norton<\/strong> about a rather different kind of zombie apocalypse. IMAGE COMICS\u2019 RURAL HORROR\/NOIR TITLE REVIVAL GETS FILM ADAPTATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

CHICAGO, IL (April 23, 2017)<\/strong> \u2013 Shatterglass Films<\/strong> announced they will produce a live-action feature-film adaptation of the critically-acclaimed comic series Revival<\/strong><\/span> by Tim Seeley<\/strong> and Mike Norton<\/strong>, who will also produce. The announcement was made at a panel at Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo<\/strong> (C2E2) where the filmmakers showed a surprise \u201cproof of concept\u201d teaser trailer to the room of fans. Revival<\/span> is a blend of mystery, thriller, and horror set in the winter stillness of rural Wisconsin<\/strong> where the recently deceased members of the community arise and return to their lives as if nothing happened. Caught up in the maelstrom of emotional and ideological turmoil the event brings to the town, Officer Dana Cypress struggles to maintain order at the same time she quietly investigates the murder of her younger sister Em, who is one of the recently \u201crevived.\u201d Production is slated to begin in early 2018 with Shatterglass Films co-founder Luke Boyce<\/strong> directing a script co-written by Revival<\/span> co-creator Tim Seeley and Sarah Fischer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am beyond ecstatic to be bringing this incredible work to life. Revival<\/span> has consistently been one of the best titles from Image in the past few years and one of my absolute favorites since it debuted in 2012. Long before I ever met Tim and Mike, I dreamed of being able to adapt this story on film and I intend to do everything I can to realize it to its full potential,\u201d said Boyce.<\/p>\n

Nominated for three Harvey Awards<\/strong>, collected editions of Revival<\/span> have sold more than 1,000,000 copies from publisher Image Comics<\/strong>, home of other successful and upcoming comic adaptations like The Walking Dead<\/strong><\/span>, Outcast<\/span>, The Wicked & The Divine<\/span>, Sex Criminals<\/span><\/strong>, and Descender<\/strong><\/span>. Creators Tim Seeley and Mike Norton are known for their success with independent comics such as HACK\/SLASH<\/strong><\/span> and Battlepug<\/strong><\/span>, as well as for work with comic publishing giants Marvel<\/strong> and DC<\/strong>, such as the critically acclaimed Nightwing<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPart of what\u2019s so exciting about working with a company like Shatterglass is that not every comic story needs to be a hundred-million-dollar-plus movie, nor should they be. Teaming up independent comics with an independent film production company just makes sense,\u201d said Seeley.<\/p>\n

The managing partners at Shatterglass Films have been involved with more than a dozen films, including an upcoming adaptation of Death of Innocence<\/strong><\/span>, Mamie Till-Mobley<\/strong>‘s memoir on the death of her son, Emmett Till<\/strong>, produced in association with Chaz Ebert<\/strong>. Other projects include Mark Roberts\u2019 RANTOUL AND DIE<\/strong>, based on his critically acclaimed play, and A24<\/strong>\u2019s Chance the Rapper<\/strong> vehicle SLICE<\/strong>. Their recent short film, THE POOKA<\/strong>, directed by Boyce and featuring THIS IS US<\/strong> and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2<\/strong> star Chris Sullivan<\/strong>, will make its world premiere at the Chicago Underground Film Festival<\/strong> on Thursday, June 1<\/strong>, when it opens for the feature KURO<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n
