Let&#8217;s hang ten, gang!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">More importantly, let\u2019s remember the individuals who served in this country\u2019s <strong>Armed Forces<\/strong>, perished in the line of duty, and by default helped shaped the world we live in today. We need to do this despite our individual feelings and rationalization over the continued reliance of military might and weaponry on behalf of \u201cpreserving the standing\u201d of the <strong>United States of America<\/strong>. These people are and were human beings \u2013 husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, parents, uncles, and aunts \u2013 with souls and histories and triumphs and failings <em>just like the rest of us<\/em> so they should be considered as such. This weighs a bit heavily in the personal sense on your humble editor right now because a relative who is a veteran, even one who was able to live out his life unlike many other service men and women, is no longer with us. After more than a year of battling a brain tumor, <strong>Robert J. Gurzynski<\/strong> passed away at home in <strong>Florida<\/strong> last November and was laid to rest earlier this month on <strong>Monday, May 8<\/strong>, at <strong>Arlington National Cemetery<\/strong> in <strong>Virginia<\/strong> with full honors. He spent two decades enlisted in the <strong>U.S. Navy<\/strong> and completed his career as a mid-ranking officer, after which he worked as a contractor at the <strong>Shades of Green<\/strong> resort for active military personnel and their families at <strong>Walt Disney World<\/strong> in <strong>Orlando<\/strong> before retirement. Surviving is his wife, <strong>Sandra<\/strong>, three children, <strong>Robert, Dawn<\/strong>, and <strong>Scott<\/strong>, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and sister <strong>Patricia<\/strong>, mother to <strong>Mr. JaPan<\/strong>. We thank you, Uncle Bob (1949-2016), for your time on Earth and your contributions.
