On the flip side, the lights remain off and doors locked at the <strong>Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters<\/strong> as it has been for a good portion of 2017 \u2013 our humble editor\u2019s continued absence to care for his ailing <strong>Ma JaPan<\/strong> and her husband has necessitated it \u2013 but we\u2019re crossing fingers that 2018 will be more prosperous in our <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Blogfidential<\/span><\/strong> pursuits! Since we have posted very little for our dearest readers as of late other than <strong>Calendars<\/strong> and <strong>Confidential Almanac<\/strong> entries, we\u2019d like to close out the month by issuing a few brief reports connected to the most recent <strong>New Art Film Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ye Ed\u2019s determination and resourcefulness paid dividends in this outing; our show went on as scheduled at downtown Champaign\u2019s <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"The Art Theater :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thearttheater.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Art Theater<\/strong><\/a><\/span> on <strong>Sunday, October 29<\/strong>, despite much of the planning process taking place well outside <strong>Champaign County<\/strong>. One would not have known the difference that night despite a couple of uncharacteristic glitches in the presentation allowed by the NAFF\u2019s slightly rusty emcee. (He apologized when needed and adjusted where required, so there\u2019s that.) Otherwise, the Art hosted a consistently sizeable audience, populated by happy film producers and well-wishing fans, throughout the event. The NAFF is fortunate to attract the participation of our trustworthy friends at <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"ThirdSide :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/thirdside.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ThirdSide<\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Shatterglass Studios :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shatterglassstudios.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shatterglass Studios<\/a><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Radio Maria :: Home Page\" href=\"https:\/\/radiomariarestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Radio Maria<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, and the Art, who help make our free community experience happen without fail. We also tip our cap to Art Theater operations manager <strong>Max Cronenberg<\/strong> for guiding our pieces into place during the final days and hours, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Quiddity International Literary Journal :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/quidditylit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Quiddity<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span> poetry editor <strong>David Logan<\/strong> for traveling upstate from southern <strong>Illinois<\/strong> to present on <strong>Vachel Lindsay<\/strong> for us, and outgoing Art Theater artistic director <strong>Austin McCann<\/strong> for continuing our relationship to bring the local independent cinema to their respected venue on <strong>Church Street<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To conclude, we adorn this <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUBlog<\/span><\/strong> summary with a pair of selections we did not feature on <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"New Art Film Festival :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/newartfilmfestival.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the festival Web site<\/a><\/span>. Both <strong>FOUR A.M.<\/strong>, produced and performed by <strong>Andy Due<\/strong> of <strong>Charleston<\/strong>, and <strong>RIPPER THE CLOWN VS. SECURITY<\/strong>, starring Internet personality <strong>Jake Aurelian<\/strong> of <strong>Danville<\/strong> as his alter ego, riff on the conventions of early 20th century film comedy with good humor and jangling piano accompaniment.
