Water St., Decatur, IL<\/strong>.\u00a0Along with spinning the ghost stories intertwined with the\u00a0venerable movie house&#8217;s 90-year history\u00a0(see item: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=110\">11\/29\/06<\/a>), Taylor will introduce a double-bill of vintage chillers hand-picked for the event, <strong>I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE<\/strong> (1943) and <strong>STRANGLER OF THE SWAMP<\/strong> (1946). Admission will be $5.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">One of several low-budget, &#8220;suggestive&#8221; horror films produced by <strong>Val Lewton<\/strong> and directed by <strong>Jacques Tourneur<\/strong> in the early Forties for <strong>RKO Radio Pictures<\/strong>, <strong>I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE<\/strong> stars <strong>James Ellison, Frances Dee<\/strong>, and <strong>Tom Conway<\/strong> in what has been described as &#8220;<strong><u>Jane Eyre<\/u><\/strong> in the West Indies&#8221; with voodoo overtones. <strong>STRANGLER\u00a0OF THE SWAMP<\/strong> is an atmospheric mystery churned out by German director <strong>Frank Wisbar<\/strong> and\u00a0prolific &#8220;poverty row&#8221; studio <strong>Producers Releasing Corporation<\/strong>\u00a0that features <strong>Rosemary La Planche, Robert Barrat, Blake Edwards<\/strong> (eventual director of <strong>BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY&#8217;S<\/strong> and <strong>THE PINK PANTHER<\/strong>), and <strong>Charles Middleton<\/strong> (&#8220;Ming the Merciless&#8221; in the <strong>FLASH GORDON<\/strong> serials).<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Taylor is the founder of Decatur-based <strong><a title=\"Whitechapel Press :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.prairieghosts.com\/whitechapel.html\" target=\"_blank\">Whitechapel Productions Press<\/a><\/strong>, an imprint that specializes in the supernatural and lists numerous Illinois titles in its catalog, including the Avon-centric <strong><u>Flickering Images<\/u><\/strong> (2001). Many of the tales amassed by the author during his travels have also been collected for larger publishers, such as in his entry of the popular &#8220;Weird U.S.&#8221; series, <strong><u>Weird Illinois<\/u><\/strong> (Sterling Publishing Co., 2005).
