{"id":1243,"date":"2009-10-25T15:51:10","date_gmt":"2009-10-25T21:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=1243"},"modified":"2014-09-06T14:56:45","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T20:56:45","slug":"ebertfest-passes-on-sale-nov-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=1243","title":{"rendered":"Ebertfest passes on sale Nov. 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Yessiree, it&#8217;s that time of year when the hardcore fans of <a title=\"Roger Ebert's Film Festival :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ebertfest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Roger Ebert&#8217;s Film Festival<\/strong><\/a> stand in virtual line (e.g., the Internet) to snap up the 1,000 festival passes offered by the <strong>College of Media<\/strong> at the <strong>University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign<\/strong> each fall, well in advance of the actual event and with the selections sight unseen&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8230;except for one courtesy of <strong>Roger Ebert<\/strong> himself, who <a title=\"APOCALYPSE NOW to open 12th annual Ebertfest :: Roger Ebert @ Chicago Sun-Times\" href=\"http:\/\/rogerebert.suntimes.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20091020\/COMMENTARY\/910209997\" target=\"_blank\">revealed this past week<\/a> that the opening night 70mm film will be <strong>APOCALYPSE NOW <\/strong>(1979). <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> crosses its collective fingers that the &#8220;<strong>Ebertfest<\/strong>&#8221; think tank might be savvy enough to also schedule the lauded documentary, <strong>HEARTS OF DARKNESS: A FILMMAKER&#8217;S APOCALYPSE<\/strong> (1991), as an instructional counterpoint appealing to the cineastes as well as all the perspiring filmmakers in the audience. We <em>know <\/em>how much additional opportunity UIUC provides its students and the community-at-large to learn about the technical craft of making movies. <em>Hmmmm<\/em>-mmm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Passes for Ebertfest &#8217;10 (or Ebertfest XII, if you prefer) will cost you $125 and <a title=\"Ticket sales for Roger Ebert's Film Festival @ TicketWeb.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ticketweb.com\/t3\/sale\/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&amp;eventId=2845204\" target=\"_blank\">go on sale <strong>Sunday, November 1<\/strong>, starting at <strong>12 a.m.<\/strong>, <strong>CST<\/strong>, through <strong>TicketWeb<\/strong><\/a>. One can also purchase them at the <strong>Virginia Theater<\/strong> in <strong>Champaign <\/strong>beginning at <strong>9:30 a.m.<\/strong> on <strong>Monday, November 2<\/strong>, by calling their box office at\u00a0<strong>(217) 356-9063<\/strong> or stopping by at <strong>203 W. Park St.<\/strong> Individual tickets will not be available until <strong>Monday, April 5, 2010<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ebertfest is scheduled to run <strong>Wednesday, April 21<\/strong>, through <strong>Sunday, April 25, 2010<\/strong>.
