Most important is that we can announce the tenth issue of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Confidential<\/span><\/strong> digest will be released once we wrap our fundraising campaign and administer a heap of late-night alchemy to shore up what you\u2019ll be seeing and reading <em>for free<\/em> at winter\u2019s end. <a title=\"C-U Confidential #10 campaign @ GoFundMe\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/cu-confidential-10-print-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The drive technically ends today, <strong>Friday, January 25<\/strong>, but we have extended it as a stretch drive through <strong>Monday, January 28<\/strong>, in the hopes we can recruit a few more Confidential agents to throw some coins in our curbside cap to go towards an adjusted $1,300 goal.<\/span><\/a> As we predicted, the former advertising base for <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUZine<\/span><\/strong> has withered greatly and forced us to look elsewhere for our budget needs. Please be generous with thanking and visiting the few businesses whose presence will illustrate our pages! Full details, hearty salutations, and a cover reveal will come to light right before <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUZine<\/span><\/strong> hits the streets; <strong>GoFundMe<\/strong> patrons can look forward to sneak peeks of issue 10 content as a perk for placing their trust in us. They delivered, now so must we.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">However, we can\u2019t help but notice the landscape shifting all around <strong>MICRO-FILM Country<\/strong>. It will be hard to not stare out the windows at the <strong>Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters<\/strong> instead of working and wonder, \u201cHey, look what\u2019s going \u2018round.\u201d Unrest. Decay. Build and rebuild. Order is not the same as it used to be, and that includes the arts and media. We\u2019re happy to be the recipient of this minor miracle allowing us to go to print once more but <a title=\"CUZine budget fuss is legit issue :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=12346\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">we don\u2019t want to do <em>this<\/em> again, <em>this<\/em> way<\/span><\/a>. The test will now come for us to show a capacity for flux or our beat will finally be bested.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">What are the signs around us that might be rattling our cage? Certain things make us wince with empathy as we understand the potential toll \u2013 the new editors of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Scary Monsters<\/span><\/strong> magazine, which <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Scary\u2019 reprint is Sven-tastic! :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=175\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">holds a seminal spot in the <strong>MFHQ<\/strong> timeline<\/a><\/span>, asked their readership a few days ago to <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Scary Monsters Magazine\u2019 post @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/scarymonstersmag\/photos\/a.139759196091252\/2150823671651451\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">help locate their new issue on newsstands<\/a><\/span> after an apparent distributor\u2019s snafu. And, particular things taste bittersweet even if they will lead to other good things \u2013 our friend and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUZine<\/span><\/strong> contributor <strong>Troy Michael<\/strong> let the world know on Tuesday that his <a title=\"\u2018Innocent Words Magazine: R.I.P. 2002-2019\u2019 by Troy Michael :: Innocent Words\" href=\"http:\/\/innocentwords.com\/__trashed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Innocent Words Magazine<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">, published in east central <strong>Illinois<\/strong> like us, will cease after 17 years<\/span><\/a> and thousands of articles and interviews. All this emerged in our peripheral view as we groveled for new life. Ups, downs, left turns, and rights.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Each matters to us, so we bring them up. How much does the Confidential project matter to <em>you<\/em>, peoples of <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> and those cities beyond? Will <em>you<\/em> bring it up if we shift, change, ever go away? We\u2019re proceeding with our immediate plans, although we could not help but note a few red flags beckoning to us from their perch atop the icy horizon as we managed our campaign. <em>Duly noted<\/em>. We\u2019ll still do what we set out to do because we simply have to do it, for what it\u2019s worth.
