First, <em>we\u2019d rather take longer to do it right<\/em>, and then, <em>we always reappear after we disappear<\/em>. Work factors, personal needs, and a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Confidential<\/span><\/strong> issue edging towards completion add up to a lack of blogging, but the floodgates will open soon enough to let content flow more freely than in the last few weeks. We promise it. You believe it. We appreciate you for sticking with us, dearest readers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There have been fun asides, we\u2019ll admit. Your humble editor was asked by interviewer <strong>Andrew J. Rausch<\/strong> to contribute a new essay to the follow-up book to <a title=\"QT topic of new \u201cConversations\u201d :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=10297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">Conversations on Quentin Tarantino<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a> that is titled <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">My Best Friend\u2019s Birthday: The Making of a Quentin Tarantino Film<\/span><\/strong>. Often excused from QT canon by scholars and fans, the ultra-low budget and unfinished comedy <strong>MY BEST FRIEND\u2019S BIRTHDAY<\/strong> was made in the late Eighties by the future <em>auteur<\/em> and his collaborator at the time, <strong>Craig Hamann<\/strong>. The latter joins Rausch and several others in providing oral histories and juicy anecdotes about the project in this intriguing volume, while <strong>Mr. JaPan<\/strong>\u2019s words will kick off the middle section about its production.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ye Ed has also submitted a testimonial that will appear in a book called <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Red Light and Other Tales<\/span><\/strong>. It supports the <strong>Champaign<\/strong> <a title=\"Colin Price @ YouTube\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCmgjAbHx_LU0hNe-aEwV-bQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">screenwriter and B-movie reviewer <strong>Colin Gabriel Price<\/strong><\/span><\/a> who makes his debut as a published author with this release. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Red Light<\/span> is a collection of short stories on the dark and seamy side of recognizable genres like fantasy and Gothic horror, although \u201c<strong>Red Light<\/strong>\u201d itself is a slice of crime fiction about a sociopathic killer and his young female mark who only knows the dark side of good fortune. We&#8217;re elated to see Price persevere with his work after recent creative ups and downs in his world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Stealing away from the keyboard for a bit with our friend, artist and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUZine<\/span> #9<\/strong> cover model <strong>Drea Aarons<\/strong>, we shared the Confidential love at this past weekend\u2019s <strong>Small Press Fest<\/strong> at the <strong>Independent Media Center<\/strong> in <strong>Urbana<\/strong>. A solid turnout of professional imprints, \u2018zine makers, alt-media collectives, and crafty types filled the Sun Room of the IMC\u2019s main floor while we teased our next issue by giving out previous issues at a table just inside the Stage Room where speaking activities took place. <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUZine<\/span><\/strong> sat alongside two other local mags that did not have representatives at the show: <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Activator<\/span><\/strong>, a music culture monthly from <strong>Springfield<\/strong> that now counts <a title=\"\u2026So we will rock you with CUZine :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=12266\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">David Gracon<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> of <strong>Hallways Microcinema<\/strong><\/span><\/a> as a contributor, and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Comparisons<\/span><\/strong>, a science-as-art \u2018zine created for the <strong>University of Illinois\u2019 Institute for Genomic Biology<\/strong> by creative program manager <strong>Julia Pollack<\/strong>, once a member of <strong>Illini Film &amp; Video<\/strong> while she was a UI undergraduate. Hopefully, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Small Press Fest @ Tumblr\" href=\"https:\/\/smallpressfestcu.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this is a solid stepping stone for organizer <strong>Sarah Christensen<\/strong> and friends<\/a><\/span> on which to build the event and complement other local efforts like the \u201cLit\u201d arm of the <strong>Pygmalion Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">While both <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Red Light<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">My Best Friend\u2019s Birthday<\/span> should be available by this fall through <strong>Page Publishing<\/strong> and <strong>BearManor Media<\/strong>, respectively, you will be able to pour through <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Confidential<\/span> #10<\/strong> much sooner! We can announce with certainty that the digest will go to press in the first half of May and appear at our favorite drop points du C-U soon afterwards. We\u2019ll have the traditional cover reveal here on <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Blogfidential<\/span><\/strong> and, for the first time, bonus articles that directly relate to what you\u2019ll find inside the issue.
