According to several reports published by the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Daily Illini <\/span><\/strong> in the past month, promoter <strong>Joseph Maddern<\/strong> and Orpheum manager <strong>R.V. Mallory<\/strong> set the intrigue in motion when <a title=\"The Daily Illini, April 13, 1919, page 7 :: Illinois Digital Newspaper Collections, University Library, UIUC\" href=\"http:\/\/idnc.library.illinois.edu\/cgi-bin\/illinois?a=d&amp;d=DIL19190413&amp;e=-01-1916--01-1926--en-20-DIL-1--txt-txIN-Orpheum+Champaign+local+film------#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">they announced a casting call for a film comedy<\/span><\/a> \u2013 \u201cYou may become a famous star!\u201d the advertising boasted \u2013 to be made primarily at the Orpheum itself with local talent. Maddern, a former <strong>Broadway<\/strong> actor and producer for the <strong>Keystone<\/strong> and <strong>Path\u00e9<\/strong> film companies, took up residence aside the Orpheum\u2019s regular program of vaudeville acts to present \u201c<strong>Making Movies<\/strong>,\u201d during which audiences had the opportunity to watch the creation of <strong>LOVE\u2019S YOUNG DREAM<\/strong>. <strong>Tom Ward<\/strong>, the director of the project, led his crew to use the Orpheum\u2019s traditional stage as if it were a movie stage in <strong>Hollywood<\/strong>, completing one or two scenes per \u201cperformance\u201d for a full week beginning on <strong>Monday, April 14<\/strong>. Panoramic views of the auditorium filled with curiosity seekers were taken at each show and figure in the final reel, just like <a title=\"The Daily Illini, April 19, 1919, page 3 :: Illinois Digital Newspaper Collections, University Library, UIUC\" href=\"https:\/\/idnc.library.illinois.edu\/?a=d&amp;d=DIL19190419&amp;e=-01-1916--01-1926--en-20-DIL-1--txt-txIN-Orpheum+Champaign+local+film-------\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">the images these impresarios captured two weeks ago at the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with students busying themselves on the quadrangle and in <strong>Lincoln Hall<\/strong>. The completed version of <strong>LOVE\u2019S YOUNG DREAM<\/strong> will play the Orpheum through <strong>Saturday, May 3<\/strong>, sharing the bill with comedians, singers, dramatists, xylophonists, a jazz quintet, and Wanda, \u201cthe seal with a human brain.\u201d Ward and Maddern would keep their demonstration on the road for at least several years, <a title=\"The Englewood Economist, December 5, 1923, page 6 :: Newspapers.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newspapers.com\/newspage\/32482526\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">appearing as late as December 1923<\/span><\/a> in the <strong>Englewood<\/strong> neighborhood of <strong>Chicago<\/strong>.
