Our hard-working friend <strong>Nick Alonzo<\/strong> of <strong>Cluck Films<\/strong> has a new cinematic joint effort with their <strong>Chicago<\/strong> area collaborators to share, and you can be one of the first to see it from the comfort of your own home! <strong>DA BIG ZIP<\/strong>, Alonzo\u2019s fourth feature eked out on the micro-budget level, will <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"DA BIG ZIP viewing portal :: CannaBus Culture Film Festival @ BingeWave\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bingewave.com\/f\/cannabus-culture-film-fest\/s\/da-big-zip-virtual-theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">play one of its first gigs later this afternoon at <strong>3 p.m. Central time<\/strong><\/a><\/span> as a selection of <strong>Seattle<\/strong>\u2019s <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"CannaBus Culture Film Festival :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ccfilmfest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>CannaBus Culture Film Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, which began yesterday, <strong>Saturday, October 17<\/strong>, and will finish up later today, <strong>Sunday, October 18<\/strong>. \u201cWe recently won \u2018Best Comedy Narrative\u2019 at the <strong>New York Hip Hop Film Festival<\/strong> and we\u2019re talking to them about distribution,\u201d Alonzo tells <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Blogfidential<\/span><\/strong> in an e-mail conversation from earlier this week. \u201c[I am s]uper happy about the reception of the film and feel like it\u2019s my most successful work to date\u201d as it follows the whimsical <strong>SHITCAGO<\/strong> (2015), contemplative <strong>THE ART OF SITTING QUIETLY &amp; DOING NOTHING<\/strong> (2018), and thought-provoking <strong>DECAF DON<\/strong> (2019) in an outpouring of narratives that express the writer\/director\u2019s social concerns and distinct sense of humor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yPDXGBP4hxI\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>DA BIG ZIP<\/strong> is an Alonzo-described \u201cstoner <em>noir<\/em>\u201d that follows what happens when a rapper and drug dealer named Oz and played by <strong>Noah Alonzo<\/strong> loses a fanny pack filled with weed and cash. \u201cI think it\u2019ll introduce a new fresh take on the stoner comedy genre,\u201d they continue, \u201c[as] it challenges the viewer by doing a lot of insane editing tricks to tell a very funny and dramatic story.\u201d The main cast includes <strong>Alina Oria, Mario Anthony, Juan Hernandez<\/strong>, <strong>DECAF DON<\/strong> lead <strong>Dennis Episcopo<\/strong>, and the filmmaker, who offers praise to their sibling for the on-screen turn. \u201cMy brother has actually acted in all my films so far,\u201d they explain. \u201c[H]e does a fantastic job in this and I really hope he pursues acting sometime in the future.\u201d Although all of their long-form storytelling so far has serious underpinnings, they feel <strong>DA BIG ZIP<\/strong> will provide a neat diversion now that people will be able to see it after the original <strong>April 20<\/strong> premiere was canceled due to the pandemic. \u201cIt\u2019s fun, full of laughs, and something that I hope leaves a good impression on audiences,\u201d concludes Alonzo.
