No, this isn&#8217;t the <strong>Chris Smith<\/strong> documentary from a few years ago or the animated series rescued by the <strong>Cartoon Network<\/strong>, but a taut exercise in incidental <em>v\u00e9rit\u00e9 <\/em>a la <strong>THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT<\/strong> and <strong>DIARY OF THE DEAD<\/strong> finally released to the retail market yesterday, <strong>Tuesday, December 8<\/strong>, courtesy of <strong>IFC Films<\/strong> (which had previously issued it to VOD and <strong>Blockbuster<\/strong>-only DVD) and <strong>Chicago<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>MPI Media Group<\/strong>. Starring <strong>Adrian Padsar<\/strong> and <strong>Cady McClain<\/strong>, the <strong><a title=\"Moderncine :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moderncine.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Moderncin\u00e9<\/a> <\/strong>production depicts through &#8220;found footage&#8221; the downward spiral suffered by an upstate <strong>New York<\/strong> family, the Poes, when their twin children (<strong>Amber Joy Williams<\/strong> and <strong>Austin Williams<\/strong>) develop a deadly mean streak.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This is one of the rare times on <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>when we&#8217;ll feature a movie not produced in <strong>MICRO-FILM Country<\/strong> since it was written and directed by our friend (and <em>your <\/em>future fellow alumnus, <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> students) <strong>Christopher Denham<\/strong>, who played the lead in Moderncin\u00e9&#8217;s first feature, <strong>HEADSPACE<\/strong>. As a theater undergraduate at UIUC, he continuously wrote and produced original plays such as <strong><em>In Film<\/em> <\/strong>and <strong><em>Rapist James<\/em><\/strong> while collaborating in the wryly-named <strong>Dependent Films<\/strong> with <a title=\"Peter James Zielinski :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peterzielinski.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Peter James Zielinski<\/strong><\/a>. Quickly moving on from <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> to Chicago (via the <strong>Steppenwolf Theatre Company<\/strong>) and then <strong>New York City<\/strong>, Denham has since hit the stage regularly while landing roles in films by <strong>Martin Scorsese<\/strong> (<strong>SHUTTER ISLAND<\/strong>), <strong>Mike Nichols<\/strong> (<strong>CHARLIE WILSON&#8217;S WAR<\/strong>), and &#8220;mumblecore&#8221; champion (and <strong>Southern Illinois University-Carbondale<\/strong> product) <strong>Joe Swanberg<\/strong> (<a title=\"ALEXANDER THE LAST :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alexanderthelast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ALEXANDER THE LAST<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the near future, we plan to give you the lowdown on the <strong>HOME MOVIE<\/strong> disc over at the <a title=\"MICRO-FILM News Blog :: Main Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>MICRO-FILM News Blog<\/strong><\/a>.
