FIELD REPORT DU HQ | From Wherever It May Be Said<\/strong><\/p>\n

As of late, I can\u2019t post the weekly Calendar<\/strong> on time to save my soul. \u201cSo what<\/em>,\u201d I hear the Black Lectroid say in my head from the end of BUCKAROO BANZAI<\/strong>, \u201cbig deal<\/em>.\u201d All I can do right now is the best I can do, and to achieve it here on a late Sunday afternoon I\u2019ll play a quick three-and-out. First, be sure to skim the schedule of the Normal Theater<\/strong> in downtown Normal<\/strong><\/a><\/span>; they\u2019re basically taking over \u201cShocktober\u201d from the late Art Theater<\/strong> without the branding, but Halloween<\/strong> movies are<\/em> Halloween movies and therefore welcome en masse<\/em>, right? The presence of a Rankin-Bass<\/strong> puppet animation (MAD MONSTER PARTY<\/strong>), a Godzilla<\/strong> all-star romp (DESTROY ALL MONSTERS<\/strong>), vintage frighteners from Joe Dante<\/strong> and David Cronenberg<\/strong> (THE HOWLING, THE BROOD<\/strong>), one of my favorite Eighties movies (BEETLEJUICE<\/strong>), and possibly the best pre-1970 horror anthology ever (DEAD OF NIGHT<\/strong>) shows the programmers are happily thinking outside the coffin. And then, check out yours truly discussing another Eighties favorite<\/a><\/span>, KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE<\/strong>, on the Chase & Shep Show<\/span><\/strong> with hosts Chase Todd<\/strong> and Aaron Sheppard<\/strong>; I may appear one or two more times in this run of \u201c31 Slays<\/strong>\u201d episodes with 31 daily reviews of horror film standards through the end of October, so watch Facebook<\/strong> for announcements<\/a><\/span>. Ending with a perk \u2013 er, make it two<\/em> perks \u2013 I wish CUBlog<\/span><\/strong> supporter Jason Croft<\/strong> the best of birthday weekends and point you towards his twin fall releases, Bachelor Pad Magazine<\/span> issue 57<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and the even naughtier Tattoo Nightcap<\/span> #3<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, for which I had the pleasure of moonlighting as proofreader. Yes<\/em>, there are words, too.<\/p>\n
