This includes the presentation of media projects at those academic institutions that foster it, and I\u2019m happy to note how prevalent they seem to be here in 2022 \u2013 so much so that we\u2019ve skipped or flat-out missed reporting on some of them because so much is afoot! Today, we have details on three such showcases that will take place over the next four days, and I hope you\u2019ll be interested in seeing how the upcoming generation of producers with potential are telling their stories through a lens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Hitting the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Lincoln Square Theater :: Home Page\" href=\"https:\/\/lincolnsquaretheater.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">partly refurbished <strong>Lincoln Square Theater<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in downtown <strong>Decatur<\/strong> later tonight, <strong>Thursday, April 28<\/strong>, is the first <strong>Images in Motion Film Festival<\/strong>, which is comprised of short subjects created by students enrolled at the city\u2019s <strong>Millikin University<\/strong>.<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Millikin animators and filmmakers to showcase skills at festival\u2019 by Dane Lisser :: Millikin University\" href=\"https:\/\/millikin.edu\/artsmillikin-news\/images-motion-film-festival-opens-doors-student-creators\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> It reflects the establishment of a cohesive track<\/a><\/span> in learning media production, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Arts Technology &amp; Administration :: Millikin University\" href=\"https:\/\/millikin.edu\/arts-administration-arts-technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Arts Technology &amp; Administration<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, at their <strong>School of Arts &amp; Creative Media<\/strong> as well as a student-run studio called <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"1901 Productions :: Millikin University\" href=\"https:\/\/millikin.edu\/1901-productions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>1901 Productions<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, overseen by Millikin faculty members <strong>Johnny Power<\/strong>, a photographer, graphic designer, and printmaker, and <strong>Eric Hector<\/strong>, creative director of <strong>Heroic Age Studios<\/strong>. Scheduled from <strong>6<\/strong> to <strong>9 p.m.<\/strong>, the show will include previews of upcoming 1901 efforts, including the long-form <strong>SONDER: AN ANTHOLOGY OF LOSS<\/strong>, and numerous other pieces; judges for the awards are Millikin communications instructor <strong>Sam Meister<\/strong> and <strong>Nickelodeon<\/strong> personality <strong>Emmanuel Carter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Impressively, there is <em>also<\/em> a <strong>Millikin Dance Film Festival<\/strong> for the first time this year. It is an 80-minute program of student work that can be watched virtually through this <strong>Sunday, May 1<\/strong>; <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"The Millikin Dance Film Festival :: Event @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/332178595494566\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">visit the <strong>Facebook<\/strong> event page<\/a><\/span> for a <strong>Vimeo<\/strong> link that is sponsored by the <strong>School of Theatre and Dance<\/strong> and a separate link where patrons can donate funds to the dance department in lieu of rental fees to view the video.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And on <strong>Saturday, April 30<\/strong>, is the annual <strong>UIUC Student Film Festival<\/strong>, a culmination of the semester-long work done by the students of course 464 that is taught through <strong>Media and Cinema Studies, College of Media<\/strong>, at the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>. The class curates the program of films made by their peers throughout the school and organizes a showcase that will be presented this year in <strong>Knight Auditorium<\/strong> at the UI <strong>Spurlock Museum of World Cultures<\/strong> in <strong>Urbana<\/strong>. Doors open at<strong> 5 p.m.<\/strong> and the show begins at <strong>6 p.m.<\/strong>, during which \u201cfood trucks, panelists, prizes, and more\u201d will be in evidence as told by <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"UIUC Student Film Festival @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UIUCFilmFest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Facebook page<\/a><\/span>, while the action will be livestreamed via <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"UIUC Student Film Festival :: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uiucfilmfest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the festival website<\/a><\/span>. Satisfy your curiosity this weekend, folks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Maybe I\u2019ll be quick enough in the future to also include comparable student events such as the \u201c<strong>COM Week<\/strong>\u201d documentary film festival, hosted by the <strong>Normal Theater<\/strong> on <strong>April 6<\/strong> and presented by the <strong>School of Communications<\/strong> at <strong>Illinois State University<\/strong>, and the <strong>Guerilla Film Festival<\/strong>, taking place this past <strong>Monday, April 25<\/strong>, at the <strong>Hansen Student Center<\/strong> of <strong>Illinois Wesleyan University<\/strong> in <strong>Bloomington<\/strong>. Who knew that even my <em>alma mater<\/em> Wesleyan would begin <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Student Collaborations Featured in Short Film Festival\u2019 by Kailee Galloway \u201923 :: Illinois Wesleyan University\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iwu.edu\/news\/2022\/student-collaborations-featured-in-short-film-festival.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">offering a formal education in media production<\/a><\/span>?
