Multiplexes and television sets are no substitute for a true cinema experience!<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Might as well lace up those running shoes, folks, because the second half of this week is stocked with places to go and movies to see!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Boardman&#8217;s Art Theatre,\u00a0126 W.\u00a0Church St., Champaign, IL<\/strong>, follows up its French and Asian cinema events with the <strong>Latin American Film Festival<\/strong>, which will take place from <strong>Friday, February 23<\/strong>, to <strong>Thursday, March 1<\/strong>. Five contemporary features will play on a rotating schedule over the course of the week: <strong>BLESSED BY FIRE <\/strong>(Argentina), <strong>HABANA BLUES<\/strong> (Cuba), <strong>SIN AMPARO<\/strong> (Columbia), <strong>FAVELA RISING<\/strong> (Brazil), and <strong>MACHUCA<\/strong> (Chile). Descriptions and exact play dates can be found on <a title=\"Boardman's Art Theatre :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.boardmansarttheater.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Art&#8217;s Web site<\/a>; primary sponsors of the film festival\u00a0are the <strong>Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies<\/strong> and the <strong>Department of Spanish, Italian, &#038; Portuguese<\/strong> at the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>. Admission will be $6.50 per show.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Foreign cinema of a different magnitude dominates the 24th annual <strong><a title=\"Insect Fear Film Festival @ Life.UIUC.edu\" href=\"http:\/\/www.life.uiuc.edu\/entomology\/egsa\/ifff.html\" target=\"_blank\">Insect Fear Film Festival<\/a><\/strong> this <strong>Saturday,\u00a0February 24, 7 p.m.<\/strong>, at <strong>Foellinger Auditorium, 709 S. Matthews Ave., Urbana, IL<\/strong>. This year, IFFF creator and\u00a0<strong>UIUC Entomology Department<\/strong> head\u00a0<strong>May Berenbaum<\/strong> will unleash the original\u00a0<strong>MOTHRA<\/strong> (1961) and the first of three Nineties sequels, <strong>REBIRTH OF MOTHRA<\/strong> (1996), along with moth-a-rific shorts and an episode of the kids&#8217; <em>anime<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>YU-GI-OH<\/strong>. Expect\u00a0a menagerie of live and preserved specimens to greet attendees in the foyer, under the care of <strong>Entomology Graduate Student Association<\/strong> members, while creepy spooky K-12 artwork will also be on display. Admission for this all-ages event\u00a0is free, with\u00a0butterfly nets optional. Good\u00a0luck in finding one big enough.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The <strong>Human Rights Film Series<\/strong> returns for the spring semester, featuring <strong>DECLINING BY DEGREES<\/strong> (<strong>February 22<\/strong>), <strong>HUNGRY FOR PROFIT<\/strong> (<strong>March 1<\/strong>), <strong>WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?<\/strong> (<strong>March 8<\/strong>), and <strong>WHY WE FIGHT<\/strong> (<strong>March 15<\/strong>) on successive <strong>Thursdays<\/strong>, starting at <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong> Hosted by the <strong>Illinois Disciples Foundation, 610 E. Springfield Ave., Champaign, IL<\/strong>, the HRFS presents works that tackle social issues\u00a0with a non-mainstream bent. Each show is free admission to the public; discussion sessions and light refreshments typically follow each film. A $100 donation to the Foundation earns admission for two as well as entrance to an <em>h&#8217;ors d&#8217;oeuvre<\/em> reception at the <strong>City Plaza, 410 N.
