FIELD REPORT DU HQ | From Wherever It May Be Said<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week, we have three quick hits on local filmmaking activity. First, it looks as if Dreamscape Cinema<\/strong> is unloading wares on two fronts, starting with the unpublicized streaming debut of their dormant shark thriller BELOW<\/strong> via Amazon Prime<\/strong><\/a><\/span> as of this past Tuesday, October 18<\/strong>; starring Logan Borsari, Audra Schildhouse<\/strong>, and Garrett Foster<\/strong>, the 70-minute-long feature was originally filmed in the Kickapoo Creek Recreation Area<\/strong> near Danville<\/strong> in the summer of 2018<\/a><\/span>, along with water-bound pickup shots in Chicago, Kankakee<\/strong>, and St. Louis<\/strong>. The studio is also hosting a clearance sale of costumes and props from various productions at their 403 W. Water Street<\/strong> location in Champaign<\/strong><\/a><\/span> from 4<\/strong> to 7 p.m.<\/strong> on Friday, October 21<\/strong>, and 7 a.m.<\/strong> to 2 p.m.<\/strong> on Saturday, October 22<\/strong>, if you have the need for such things in the spooky season.<\/p>\n

And then, the \u201chome for independent storytelling in Champaign, Illinois\u201d that is Camp Nostalgic Studios<\/strong> has released a new short subject for Halloween<\/strong> called ROUTINE<\/strong>, starring Katherine Bokenkamp<\/strong> and Pam Erickson<\/strong> and directed by Chase Todd<\/strong>; you can view their spin on the folk tale involving cemeteries at Facebook<\/strong><\/a><\/span> or the group\u2019s website<\/a><\/span>. Comprised of Dave Rediger, Alex Duquette, Gela Rediger<\/strong>, and their associate campers and talents, Camp Nostalgic shares videos online almost every week \u2013 they often fall in the realms of humor, documentary, animation, and music video \u2013 and is partnering with other DIY culture hot spots in the area, such as Rebelsfare Collective<\/strong> in Oakwood<\/strong>, Chase & Shep<\/strong> in Savoy<\/strong>, and Champaign-Urbana Comedy<\/strong> in the C-U, to create original content. Check \u2018em out!<\/p>\n

To conclude, we\u2019ve discovered evidence in the last few days of a Champaign County<\/strong> location shoot from a year-and-a-half ago that no one decided to tell us about<\/em> in the course of looking up details about a mid-Nineties VHS bootleg scheme in Champaign County that your humble editor couldn\u2019t otherwise recall. (No joke.<\/a><\/span>) The Chicagoland-based project, YOU\u2019RE OUT!<\/strong>, is a baseball comedy from Stay the Course Productions<\/strong> and Ladie K Productions<\/strong> that is deep in post-production according to current Facebook posts<\/a><\/span>; you can watch a visit to the set at Parkland College<\/strong> by Erin Valle<\/strong> of WCIA-TV<\/strong>, in which she interviews lead actor Shannon Brown<\/strong>, producer Sandy De Lisle<\/strong>, and director Katharin Mraz<\/strong>, or flip through a nicely detailed \u201cpitch deck\u201d at the official website for the film<\/a><\/span> that demonstrates how its makers are aiming to cover the bases, as it were, with inclusion practices on an indie budget as well as appealing to many demographics. Good luck to the team on reaching home plate with YOU\u2019RE OUT!<\/strong><\/p>\n
