(Screen capture: Shudder\/AMC)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_revealer_caitoaase_shock.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Time to peep the rapture, dearest readers! <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Shudder Acquires Award-Winning Revealer Fresh Off Its U.S. Premiere\u2019 by staff :: AMC Networks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amcnetworks.com\/press-releases\/shudder-acquires-award-winning-revealer-fresh-off-its-u-s-premiere\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">After exclusively streaming on the <strong>Shudder<\/strong> and<strong> AMC+<\/strong> online services<\/a><\/span> for the last five months, the ambitious retro sci-fi film <strong>REVEALER<\/strong> can be added to your home library as of today, <strong>Tuesday, November 15<\/strong>, courtesy <strong>RLJE Films <\/strong>and their prolific line of Shudder-branded content. You may have to look a bit carefully to find the DVD of this thought-provoking entry in an apocalyptic vein from respected comics creators<strong> Tim Seeley<\/strong> and <strong>Michael Moreci<\/strong> (<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hack\/Slash<\/span><\/strong>, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Revival<\/span><\/strong>) and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Shatterglass Films :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shatterglassfilms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Champaign\u2019s <strong>Shatterglass Films<\/strong><\/a><\/span> (<strong>THE POOKA, SLICE<\/strong>), however, for it may be squeezed out of focus with the rash of horror titles also appearing on disc this week such as <strong>PEARL, THE INVITATION, SLAYERS, HATCHING, R.I.P.D. 2<\/strong>, and <strong>JEEPERS CREEPERS REBORN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In fact, it has been a bit tough to learn the details of this release before today. E-tailers are certainly listing <strong>REVEALER<\/strong> for sale, but the product description has been <em>very<\/em> lacking across the board. (It\u2019s also a bit disheartening to realize there is no Blu-ray being offered even though today\u2019s other Shudder\/RLJE release, <strong>ALLEGORIA<\/strong>, is <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"ALLEGORIA Blu-ray @ Target\" href=\"https:\/\/www.target.com\/p\/allegoria-2022\/-\/A-87796649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">making its physical media debut on both formats<\/a><\/span>.) If one squints a bit at <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"REVEALER DVD @ DeepDiscount.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.deepdiscount.com\/revealer\/014381147131\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the low-resolution back cover art posted at <strong>Deep Discounts<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, one learns the disc is actually <em>packed<\/em> with extras. They include an actors\u2019 commentary track, writers\u2019 commentary track, production commentary track, \u201cPeep Show Prayers: The Making of \u2018Revealer\u2019,\u201d \u201cDark All Day: The Full Dance Sequence,\u201d a gag reel, a visual effects breakdown, and \u201cSaints &amp; Sinners: A Video Essay\u201d by entertainment writer <strong>Jessica Scott<\/strong> of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dread Central<\/span><\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Slash Film<\/span><\/strong>. That\u2019s a pretty good value at a $27.97 suggested retail price.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Prop department gets blunt in REVEALER. Prior to <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"REVEALER @ Shudder\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shudder.com\/movies\/watch\/revealer\/443633e5ecea0927\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">its bow on Shudder on <strong>Thursday, June 23<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, the film received its world premiere at the <strong>Fantaspoa Film Festival<\/strong> in <strong>Brazil<\/strong> and <strong>United States<\/strong> premiere at <strong>Panic Fest<\/strong> in <strong>Kansas City, Missouri<\/strong>, both in April, after which it has only been shown publicly on occasion. <strong>REVEALER<\/strong> is directed and edited by Shatterglass co-founder <strong>Luke Boyce<\/strong>, written by Seeley and Moreci, produced by Shatterglass\u2019 <strong>Brett Hays<\/strong> as well as <strong>Sarah Sharp<\/strong> and <strong>Robert Patrick Stern<\/strong> of <strong>The Line Film Company<\/strong> in <strong>Chicago<\/strong> and <strong>Aaron B. Koontz<\/strong> of <strong>Paper Street Pictures<\/strong> in <strong>Austin, Texas<\/strong>, and stars <strong>Caito Aase, Shaina Schrooten, Bishop Stevens, Phil Bogdan<\/strong>, and <strong>Buzz Leer<\/strong>. <strong>Turncoat Pictures<\/strong> of Chicago provided effects work on the film, which runs 86 minutes and is unrated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Fans of <strong>REVEALER<\/strong> have a couple of tokens they can collect. There is a one-shot comic book tie-in with several cover variants by Seeley, Moreci, Koontz, and friends, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Revealer<\/span> #1<\/strong> from <strong>Vault Comics<\/strong>, that <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Revealer\u2019 #1 by Tim Seeley, Michael Moreci, etc. @ ComiXology\/Amazon\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Revealer-1-Tim-Seeley-ebook\/dp\/B09ZH6VXWR\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">you can order through <strong>ComiXology<\/strong> on <strong>Amazon<\/strong><\/a><\/span>. There is also a single in the Eighties hair metal style called \u201c<strong>Saint &amp; Sinner<\/strong>\u201d by <strong>Atlant \u201987<\/strong> with a B-side of music by the film\u2019s composer, <strong>Alex Cuervo<\/strong>, that is <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Saint &amp; Sinner\u2019 single by Atlant \u201987 @ Apple Music\" href=\"https:\/\/music.apple.com\/sg\/album\/revealer-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-single\/1630328008\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">available through <strong>Apple Music<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and other services as well as on <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Saint &amp; Sinner\u2019 cassette single by Atlant \u201987 :: Burning Witches Records\" href=\"https:\/\/burningwitchesrecords.com\/releases\/saint-sinner-atlant-87-cassette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a gnarly cassette sold by <strong>Burning Witches Records<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in the <strong>United Kingdom<\/strong>. Maybe we will eventually see merchandise with Shudder\u2019s key artwork, rendered by <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Brian Taylor (Candykiller) @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CandykillerNews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish illustrator <strong>Brian Taylor<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, which depicts the terse pole dancer Angie (Aase) and hyper-religious protestor Sally (Schrooten) who find themselves trapped in an adult bookstore during a neon-drenched cataclysmic event in Chicago and must team up in order to survive <em>very<\/em> strange things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Of course, for those of you who consider DVDs <em>so<\/em> 2002 and Blu-rays <em>so<\/em> 2012, the floodgates have now opened wherein you can stream <strong>REVEALER<\/strong> on a number of services like <strong>Redbox, Vudu, YouTube, Roku, Sling TV<\/strong>, and <strong>Amazon Prime Video<\/strong>. A single <strong>Google<\/strong> search will pull up the entire list for you. On the other hand, given the location and decade the film is set in, a collector\u2019s VHS of <strong>REVEALER<\/strong> that is <em>so<\/em> 1987 would be quite welcome and a nice thematic fit.
