FIELD REPORT DU HQ | From Wherever It May Be Said<\/strong><\/p>\n

A postmortem boo<\/em> to you<\/em>, dearest readers! Since CUBlog<\/span><\/strong> hasn\u2019t been able to coordinate a series of Halloween<\/strong> stories this fall as we did a year ago, we\u2019re compensating for it this week with our FINAL SUMMER<\/strong> and REVEALER<\/strong> coverage. The Report<\/strong> might as well follow suit with a few freaky viewing suggestions, yes? To start, our friend and actress-in-demand Katherine Bokenkamp<\/strong> appears in her second new horror short of the season titled NIXON AND THE WITCH<\/strong>, a gruesome piece set in the bathroom of a party house, which made its YouTube<\/strong> debut on Sunday, November 6<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, in a pairing with an alien abduction bit called HAPPY CAMPER<\/strong>. Both are micro-budget weird-outs from Dial Tone Pictures<\/span><\/strong> of Decatur<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and photographer\/filmmaker Johnny Power<\/strong>, a media instructor at Millikin University<\/strong>. And then, family-friendly shudders are afoot in FREAKi<\/strong> from C-U creator Andrew Gleason<\/strong> and friends; a mother (Lindsey Gates-Markel<\/strong>) punishes her daughter (Eva Gleason<\/strong>) who in turn attempts to cast a crafty spell that, shall we say, bites her back. This also premiered on YouTube<\/a><\/span> on the most appropriate day, Monday, October 31<\/strong>. Finally, the vlogcast team of Chase & Shep<\/strong> can\u2019t keep out of trouble in their newest video<\/a><\/span>, HELL OF A HALLOWEEN<\/strong>, made in cahoots with Camp Nostalgic Studios<\/strong> of Champaign<\/strong>. In this misadventure, Chase (Chase Todd<\/strong>) and Shep (Aaron Sheppard<\/strong>) are hosting a costume party in Villa Grove<\/strong> when that damn “Book of the Dead” from CHASE AND SHEP\u2019S SUMMER CAMP OF HORRORS!<\/strong> materializes on their coffee table, after which the possessions commence. Randy Phillips, Gela Rediger, Phillip Hazen, Lizzie Browning<\/strong>, and more put the slay in the duo\u2019s innocuous \u201cholislay\u201d plans. We hear that Thanksgiving<\/strong> is up next on the carving block at Earth 217 Studios<\/strong>, so stay hep to Chase & Shep!<\/p>\n
