(Photo: Robert Palka\/courtesy Strand Releasing)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_ebertfest2023_namesara.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"376\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our fair Twin Cities will play host over the next several days to the 2023 edition of <strong>Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong> and, per tradition, we\u2019re sharing the core details for your easy reference. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"College of Media :: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign\" href=\"https:\/\/media.illinois.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Presented by the <strong>College of Media at the University of Illinois<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and co-founder and presenter <strong>Chaz Ebert<\/strong>, the newest iteration of this signature event will launch tomorrow, <strong>Wednesday, April 19<\/strong>, and last through the late hours of <strong>Saturday, April 22<\/strong>. Before then, the <strong>Ebert Symposium<\/strong> will bring an academic lens to social issues on screen and in real life \u2013 our country\u2019s horrid tailspin into wanton violence on citizens by citizens, in this case \u2013 starting later tonight, <strong>Tuesday, April 18<\/strong>, with a free screening of <strong>William Greaves<\/strong>\u2019 singular <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"SYMBIOPSYCHOTAXIPLASM: Two Takes :: The Criterion Collection\" href=\"https:\/\/www.criterion.com\/films\/751-symbiopsychotaxiplasm-two-takes-by-william-greaves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>SYMBIOPSYCHOTAXIPLASM: TAKE ONE<\/strong><\/a><\/span> in the <strong>Knight Auditorium<\/strong> of the UI <strong>Spurlock Museum of World Cultures, 600 S. Gregory St., Urbana<\/strong>, to be introduced by the new artistic director of <strong>Chicago<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Kartemquin Films, Amir George<\/strong>. Tomorrow, the Symposium moves to the UI <strong>Illini Union<\/strong> during the day with a keynote speech by George and two panel discussions with several experts and festival guests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The action then continues at the <strong>Virginia Theatre, 203 W. Park Ave., Champaign<\/strong>, a century-old palace that has been immaculately restored and outfitted with modern equipment. Dozens of staff members and volunteers, both from the venue and the festival, will ensure the show goes on as they have since the debut of \u201c<strong>Ebertfest<\/strong>\u201d in 1999 as the <strong>Overlooked Film Festival<\/strong>.
