{"id":1557,"date":"2010-01-15T01:53:45","date_gmt":"2010-01-15T07:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=1557"},"modified":"2014-09-06T14:56:28","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T20:56:28","slug":"war-joins-hurt-on-dvd-front","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=1557","title":{"rendered":"WAR joins HURT on DVD front"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earlier this week on <strong>Tuesday, January 12<\/strong>, upstart distributor <strong>Summit Entertainment<\/strong> released to DVD and Blu-ray their critically acclaimed war drama, <strong>THE HURT LOCKER<\/strong>, simultaneously with home-video acquisition <strong>BROTHERS AT WAR<\/strong>, a documentary by <strong>Decatur, IL<\/strong>, native <strong>Jake Rademacher<\/strong> briefly released to theaters last March by <a title=\"Samuel Goldwyn Films :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.samuelgoldwynfilms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Samuel Goldwyn Films<\/strong><\/a>. While the former, directed by <strong>Kathryn Bigelow<\/strong> and starring <strong>Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie<\/strong>, and <strong>Brian Geraghty<\/strong> as American soldiers trained to defuse homemade bombs in <strong>Iraq<\/strong>, has received plenty of notice, possibly not enough has been said about the latter. Brave soul Rademacher willingly followed his brothers, <strong>Captain Isaac Rademacher<\/strong> and <strong>Sergeant Joseph Rademacher<\/strong>, into the line of duty in Iraq, hoping to better understand through his lens the life choices made by these men in the name of their country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We\u2019ll allow <a title=\"BROTHERS AT WAR :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brothersatwarmovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">the official Web site<\/a> to detail the history of Rademacher\u2019s project and the story of his family for the time being; those who want to cut to the chase can <a title=\"Summit Entertainment announces DVD release :: BrothersAtWarMovie.com\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.brothersatwarmovie.com\/2010\/01\/05\/brothers-at-war-dvd-launch-press-release\/\" target=\"_blank\">find Summit\u2019s press release right here<\/a>. As far as impressions, politics, and implications, I\u2019ll refrain from throwing down my two cents until I\u2019ve seen <strong>BROTHERS AT WAR<\/strong> in its entirety. Leading up to the original theatrical run, it seemed that early coverage came primarily from pro-military and right-wing news outlets, along with whoever happened to interview executive producer <strong>Gary Sinise<\/strong> at the time and the expected hometown press from the <strong>Decatur <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Herald-Review<\/span><\/strong> and elsewhere. It will be interesting to hear and read what all quarters of America have to say now that it\u2019s more accessible.
