We\u2019d like to recommend that everyone consider watching one or more blocks during the 22nd <strong>Route 66 Film Festival<\/strong>, which launches in the virtual streaming realm as of today, <strong>Friday, November 3<\/strong>, and lasts until <strong>Tuesday, November 13<\/strong>. The selections for 2023 are being hosted by <strong>FilmFestivalFlix<\/strong>, a partnership that has helped keep the Route 66 show on the road through the pandemic, and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Route 66 Film Festival 2023 selections @ FilmFestivalFlix\" href=\"https:\/\/filmfestivalflix.com\/festival\/route-66-film-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consists of four blocks of film shorts and six features<\/a><\/span>: <strong>ALI VS. ALI<\/strong> (Iran, 2022), <strong>DON\u2019T SHOOT THE PIANO MAN<\/strong> (USA, 2022), <strong>HELA<\/strong> (Poland, 2022), <strong>THE LAST TANGO WITH PARI<\/strong> (Iran, 2023), and a pair of <strong>Illinois<\/strong>-made films, the 2023 documentary <strong>TAKE YOUR OWN NOTES<\/strong>, regarding the lives of women veterans in the <strong>Rockford<\/strong> area, and the 2022 drama <strong>GOOD GUY WITH A GUN<\/strong>, a teen angst drama filmed in Chicagoland. Credit the current team \u2013 festival director <strong>Lana Wildman<\/strong>, awards director <strong>Christine Samoore<\/strong>, marketing director <strong>Laura Richter<\/strong>, advertising director<strong> Crissie Trigger<\/strong>, their volunteers, judges, and sponsors \u2013 for seeing it past the rough patches akin to what many a locally-based cultural organization in the <strong>United States<\/strong> has gone through lately. Hopefully, they can return to promoting a complete in-person theatrical experience in the near future, but at least they host a live awards ceremony at the <strong>Hoogland Center for the Arts<\/strong> in the capital city\u2019s downtown so people can meet and mingle; this year\u2019s shindig is scheduled for <strong>Sunday, November 11<\/strong>, and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Route 66 Film Festival @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheRoute66InternationalFilmFestival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">possibly will be livestreamed for those who can\u2019t attend as in the past<\/a><\/span>.
