A bunch has been in the news lately about the EV start-up Rivian Automotive<\/strong>, which has a manufacturing plant in Normal<\/strong> at the location where George Henry Horton<\/strong>\u2019s AI indie PROJECT DOROTHY<\/strong><\/span><\/a> was shot. (Rivian CEO R. J. Scaringe<\/strong> and DOROTHY<\/strong> producer Ryan Scaringe<\/strong> are clearly related, hence the filmmakers\u2019 unfettered access to the former Mitsubishi<\/strong> complex.) The operation is being positioned as an answer or competitor to Elon Musk<\/strong>\u2019s Tesla<\/strong> brand<\/a><\/span> if<\/em> they can get product out on the streets; the Normal facility is eliminating its third shift operations and transferring workers to the earlier shifts with allegedly improved means to produce their R1<\/strong> vehicles more efficiently<\/a><\/span>, and they just announced a new R2<\/strong> make of SUV that can sport a host of accessories including a rooftop tent, dubbed the \u201ctreehouse,\u201d with a built-in movie projector<\/em> among the perks<\/a><\/span>. Ye Ed<\/strong> is yelling at us to tell you that it\u2019s A-OK to not be anywhere near a screen or the cinema for a time. Let it go.
