FIELD REPORT DU HQ | From Wherever It May Be Said<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll consider this short Report<\/strong> a prelude to next week\u2019s Report<\/strong>, in which we\u2019ll talk about the implications of drawing film productions and their dollars to Champaign-Urbana<\/strong>(-Rantoul<\/strong>, let\u2019s be honest<\/a><\/span>). Related to a degree, your humble editor happens to be putting together an order this week at Oldies.com<\/strong> that is one-half movies of the C-U and beyond. In the process of adding and subtracting items to his shopping cart and doing oodles of extra searches to really make sure<\/em> he\u2019s finding everything he wants to pick up, Ye Ed<\/strong> decided to click on a \u201cHot Deals!\u201d button and, in the hundred or so discounted titles on the page (out of tens of thousands stocked by the merchant), what would appear but the Jay Bennett<\/strong> biography<\/a><\/span>, WHERE ARE YOU, JAY BENNETT?<\/strong> If you are a fan or friend of the late studio w\u00fcnderkind from Urbana who passed away 15 years ago this April, you might want to score a copy or copies of the two-disc Blu-ray release from What Were We Thinking Films<\/strong> and MVD Visual<\/strong> while they cost only $5.30 each. Yes<\/em>, $5.30<\/strong>. Click here for the product page<\/a><\/span> if you\u2019re interested. Some of you may also be interested in the other<\/em> relevant documentary found by Ye Ed on a hunch. April Wright<\/strong>\u2019s well-received look at the post-pandemic health of America<\/strong>\u2019s drive-in industry<\/a><\/span>, BACK TO THE DRIVE-IN<\/strong>, was released on DVD by Uncork\u2019d Entertainment<\/strong> back on February 6<\/strong> with little fanfare; the film includes a trip to the Harvest Moon Twin Drive-in<\/strong> of Gibson City<\/strong>, which opened back up for business this weekend with the GHOSTBUSTERS<\/strong> and KUNG FU PANDA<\/strong> sequels. You can park a copy of DRIVE-IN<\/strong> in your home library<\/a><\/span> for a reasonable $14.<\/p>\n
