They fall in the camp of \u201cold business is new business,\u201d so let\u2019s get down to business. <em>N&#8217;est-ce pas?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">First up, we shared with you recently about <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Calendar: February 9-15, 2024 :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=15731\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Ye Ed<\/strong>\u2019s dalliances in shopping<\/a><\/span> for non-US physical media of US (and as close to C-U as possible) productions and, <em>right<\/em> after he ordered <strong>STRANGE INVADERS<\/strong> and <strong>LET\u2019S GET HARRY<\/strong> from <strong>Australia<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Imprint Films<\/strong>, parent company <strong>Via Vision Entertainment<\/strong> announced they would also be <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"GRANDVIEW U.S.A. :: Via Vision\" href=\"https:\/\/viavision.com.au\/shop\/grandview-u-s-a-blu-ray\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">re-releasing <strong>GRANDVIEW, U.S.A.<\/strong> on Blu-ray and DVD<\/a><\/span>. Sadly, it looks to be a movie-only edition just like the <strong>Kino Lorber<\/strong> Blu from a decade ago <em>and<\/em> the <strong>Paramount\/CBS<\/strong> DVD from before that, never mind the <strong>C. Thomas Howell-Jamie Lee Curtis-Patrick Swayze<\/strong> vehicle will be reaching its 40th anniversary of theatrical release in August. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Calendar: September 15-21, 2023 :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=15545\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This <strong>Hollywood<\/strong> flick is \u201cthe one filmed in <strong>Pontiac<\/strong>,\u201d of course.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And then, the folks behind the scenes at <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"The Fischer Theatre @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FischerTheatre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the <strong>Fischer Theatre<\/strong> in downtown <strong>Danville<\/strong><\/a><\/span> have finally found a good opportunity to book <strong>THE BABE<\/strong>, a <strong>Universal Pictures<\/strong> biography of <strong>Babe Ruth<\/strong> as played by the great<strong> John Goodman<\/strong>. The Fischer will show the 1992 release tomorrow, <strong>Saturday, June 8<\/strong>, starting at <strong>2 p.m.<\/strong> as a tie-in with that evening\u2019s contest between the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Danville Dans :: Home Page\" href=\"https:\/\/danvilledans.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Danville Dans<\/strong> baseball club<\/a><\/span> and the <strong>Champion City Kings<\/strong> of <strong>Springfield, Ohio<\/strong>, at <strong>Danville Stadium<\/strong>; <strong>Prospect League<\/strong> action will kick off at <strong>6:30 p.m.<\/strong> Organizers are encouraging those who were present at the stadium as extras in 1991 \u2013 yes, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Calendar: July 9-15, 2021 :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=14232\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>this<\/em> Hollywood flick is \u201cthe one partly filmed in Danville\u201d<\/a><\/span> \u2013 to attend and have their pictures taken for olde tyme\u2019s sake. Filmed in the late 2000s in the C-U, the movie \u2013 an adaptation of an original Trippiedi play that several stage troupes apparently passed on due to its touchy subject matter \u2013 appeared in film festivals in 2011-12 and briefly on <strong>Amazon Prime<\/strong> before being quietly pulled from public viewing. Written and directed by Trippiedi, the piece involves a young girl (<strong>Z\u00f6e Capps<\/strong>) who befriends an older neighbor (<strong>Steven Keen<\/strong>) and doesn\u2019t realize his behavioral tendencies could put her at risk; <strong>Joe Dempsey, Carolyn Kodes<\/strong>, and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Amy Stoch\u2019 by Mike Trippiedi :: Not Very Famous \u2026 but should be\" href=\"http:\/\/notveryfamous.blogspot.com\/2012\/05\/amy-stoch.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Amy Stoch<\/strong><\/a><\/span> also appear in \u201cthe best thing I\u2019ve ever written,\u201d per Trippiedi on a recent <strong>Facebook<\/strong> post. During the last decade, he\u2019s funneled his creative energy into writing fiction and his short story, \u201c<strong>The Telemarketer<\/strong>,\u201d appears in <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Final Passenger\u2019 @ Amazon\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B0D5BK9RY1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a brand-new anthology<\/a><\/span>, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Final Passenger<\/span><\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Above the Rain Collective :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/abovetheraincollective.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Above the Rain Collective<\/strong><\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Finally, out in the ether of distant memories made concrete, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUBlog<\/span><\/strong> friend <strong>Robert Cagle<\/strong> shared a vintage segment that aired on French television and featured the late <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> professor and cinema scholar <strong>Edwin Jahiel<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Les s\u00e9lections parall\u00e8les\u2019 :: L\u2019INA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ina.fr\/ina-eclaire-actu\/video\/i00019660\/les-selections-paralleles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In the stream hosted online by <strong>L\u2019INA<\/strong>, which unfortunately does not have subtitles<\/a><\/span>, Jahiel appears in conversation with the film critic, author, and documentary producer <strong>Anne Andreu<\/strong> (<strong>ROMY SCHNEIDER, \u00c9TRANGE \u00c9TRANG\u00c8RE<\/strong>) about the selections of the May 1978 edition of the <strong>Directors\u2019 Fortnight<\/strong>, an event held parallel to the <strong>Cannes Film Festival<\/strong>.
