Thank you for your readership, CUvians and Agents!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>IMAGERY DU C-U | Picturing Our Scene on the Screen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A kick of your humble editor\u2019s is to find television episodes or movies that set scenes in <strong>Champaign, Urbana<\/strong>, and the cities beyond even if they are filmed far away from central <strong>Illinois<\/strong>; we talked about a few examples of this in <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Calendar: June 9-15, 2023 :: C-U Blogfidental\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=15356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a <strong>Report<\/strong> we filed last summer<\/a><\/span>. Recently,<strong> Ye Ed<\/strong> happened to find a streaming channel that was marathoning the humorous <strong>SyFy<\/strong> action series <strong>Z NATION<\/strong> overnight and, <em>tra la<\/em>, the first episode to begin during his watch started out with the show\u2019s heroes battling a caucus of undead <strong>Abraham Lincoln<\/strong> impersonators in our alive-and-well state capital of <strong>Springfield<\/strong>. Looking far older than four score and seven years when we meet them due to the virus plague at the crux of the show\u2019s storyline, the Abes\u2019 campaign falls short at the hands of the well-armed survivors played by <strong>Kellita Smith, Keith Allan, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, Pisay Pao, Nat Zang<\/strong>, and <strong>Matt Cede\u00f1o<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Z Nation: Zombie Baby Daddy \u2013 Season 2, Episode 6\u2019 photo gallery :: SyFy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.syfy.com\/z-nation\/photos\/zombie-baby-daddy-season-2-episode-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This second-season episode, \u201c<strong>Zombie Baby Daddy<\/strong>,\u201d first aired on <strong>October 16, 2015<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and was directed by <strong>Abram Cox<\/strong> and written by <strong>Z NATION<\/strong> co-creator<strong> Craig Engler<\/strong>. The pop-culture skewing of historical figures is not news to our film scene, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Oh, hell, have a Halloween treat! :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=12235\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being from the Land of Lincoln and <strong>Lukemans<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, but we\u2019re amused to share this one anyway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Z NATION (Photo: courtesy SyFy)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cublog_calendarBNR289_znation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"252\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>CONFIDENTIAL ALMANAC | Dates in Film Culture History<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>15 Years Ago<\/strong> \u2026 <em>Weekend of Friday, June 5, 2009:<\/em> Hairy monsters and human combatants tear up the neighborhood at both <strong>Meadowbrook Park<\/strong> and <strong>Caffe Paradiso<\/strong> in <strong>Urbana<\/strong> during the final round of location shooting for <a title=\"Jason Butler @ YouTube\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCq7tdExn5vrlC11fmsa5fTQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">WEREWOLF CEMETERY Episode 4<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. Since relocating to <strong>Portland, Oregon<\/strong>, with his life partner <strong>Ann Fitzgerald<\/strong>, co-creator <strong>Jason Butler<\/strong> has flied back periodically to the area in order to film the remaining scenes for the sprawling comedy-horror series with familiar locations and friendly faces at his disposal. This included an informal residence at <a title=\"Orpheum 100th, lore in spotlight :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=8468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">the former<strong> Orpheum Theatre<\/strong> in downtown <strong>Champaign<\/strong><\/span><\/a> last fall to stage a giant battle in the partly gutted auditorium, redressed to stand in for the werewolves\u2019 lair, during off hours when <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Orpheum Children\u2019s Science Museum :: Home Page\" href=\"https:\/\/orpheumkids.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the adjacent <strong>Orpheum Children\u2019s Science Museum<\/strong><\/a><\/span> was closed. Returning regulars such as <strong>Steve Ucherek, Bob Henne, Bill Turner, Lacie Ucherek, Barney Joyce, Aaron Davidson, Owen Anderson, Mark Peaslee, Devin Atkins, Frank Peters, Jodi Hahn<\/strong>, Fitzgerald, and Butler could be seen filing in and out of the Orpheum&#8217;s rear entrance throughout September and October, while several of them are involved in the current activity. <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">C-U Blogfidential<\/span><\/strong> editor <strong>Jason Pankoke<\/strong> has served as a set photographer and extra during this penultimate stretch. Other than random effects shots and an explanatory scene involving Butler\u2019s character \u201cDixon,\u201d the producer will turn his attentions to editing together the finale in what promises to upstage <strong>Episode 3<\/strong> by far.
