Today, we\u2019ll be talking events that are and aren\u2019t upcoming\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">First, our man <strong>Nat Dykeman<\/strong> and his <strong>Chambana Film Society<\/strong> are taking a big step towards prominence in alternative programming here in <strong>Champaign County<\/strong> beginning this <strong>Sunday, October 5<\/strong>, when they renew their residency at the <strong>Phoenix Savoy 16 + IMAX<\/strong> in <strong>Savoy<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Chambana Film Society :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chambanafilmfestival.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shows will now be weekly instead of monthly<\/a><\/span>, many of them presented under a new \u201c<strong>Savoy Arthouse<\/strong>\u201d banner and with participation from the former <strong>Art Theater<\/strong> owner <strong>Sanford Hess<\/strong>, and the event kicking off this run at <strong>3 p.m.<\/strong> is a collection of contemporary animated shorts called the \u201c<strong>Animation Mixtape<\/strong>,\u201d presented by the legendary <strong>Don Hertzfeldt<\/strong> (<strong>REJECTED<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Then, <strong>Mt. Zion<\/strong> filmmaker <strong>Eric Hector<\/strong> of <strong>Heroic Age Studios<\/strong> called up <strong>Ye Ed<\/strong> and graciously invited him to attend the world premiere of their feature <strong>TRICK AND TREATS<\/strong> at the <strong>Lincoln Square Theater<\/strong> last month on <strong>Saturday, September 20<\/strong>; he couldn\u2019t go, but they had a very packed house to soak in the creepy and <a title=\"Lincoln Square Theater :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/lstevents.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>TRIC<span style=\"color: #800000;\">K<\/span><\/strong> has been awarded more play dates in <strong>Decatur<\/strong> throughout October<\/span><\/a>. Also, a friend of the <strong>Paris Theater<\/strong> in <strong>Paris<\/strong> wrote <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CUBlog<\/span><\/strong> to let us know about <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"The Paris Theater :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/parisiltheater.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Halloween<\/strong> classics playing their venue weekly \u2018til the end of the month<\/a><\/span>; <strong>Wes Craven<\/strong>\u2019s seminal hit <strong>SCREAM<\/strong> from 1996 will scare \u2018em for free tonight and tomorrow night at <strong>9 p.m.<\/strong>, to be followed by other originals: <strong>A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, FRIDAY THE 13TH<\/strong>, and <strong>HALLOWEEN<\/strong>s from 1978, 1981, and 1982.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Local teen sensation <strong>Max Libman<\/strong>, who is currently attending film school at the <strong>University of Southern California<\/strong> and has been making appearances at tony A-list events all over the world, has announced that his fourth <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Champaign Urbana International Film Festival :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cuiff.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Champaign Urbana International Film Festival<\/strong><\/a><\/span> will return for the second time in 2025; the UI <strong>Spurlock Museum<\/strong> will again host the SRO short film showcase on<strong> Saturday, November 8<\/strong>. And sadly, <a title=\"Chaz Ebert address of Ebertfest future :: Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival\" href=\"https:\/\/ebertfest.com\/ebertfest-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Chaz Ebert<\/strong> revealed that <strong>Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong> as we\u2019ve known it at the <strong>Virginia Theatre<\/strong> for twenty-six star-studded affairs is no more<\/span><\/a>; her and <strong>Nate Kohn<\/strong>\u2019s future plans for translating the late <strong>Roger Ebert<\/strong>\u2019s love of film into advocacy for the art form are now uncertain, apart from the <strong>Ebert Center<\/strong> itinerary held each semester at Spurlock on the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> campus. \u201c<strong>Ebertfest<\/strong>\u201d proper had an enviable run.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>IMAGERY DU C-U | Picturing Our Scenes on the Small Screen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That leads us to today\u2019s <strong>Image<\/strong>. <strong>Eric Hector<\/strong> told yours truly in advance of sharing it with the audience at his <strong>TRICK AND TREATS<\/strong> shindig that <strong>Gravitas Ventures<\/strong> had secured the US distribution rights to the horror-fantasy and <a title=\"TRICK AND TREATS @ Apple TV+\" href=\"https:\/\/tv.apple.com\/us\/movie\/trick-and-treats\/umc.cmc.6jpd1nha4s6t80f55fgqzxfvc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Apple TV+<\/strong> would begin streaming it as of next <strong>Tuesday, October 7<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, for those who are curious to check it out and are unable to visit the <strong>Lincoln Square Theater<\/strong>\u00a0on <strong>October 11, 12, 24, 29<\/strong>, or <strong>30<\/strong>.
