First up, the crew at <strong>Camp Nostalgic Studios<\/strong> has just completed the latest seasons of their <strong>YouTube<\/strong> shows, totaling five episodes each of <strong>SATURDAY MORNING<\/strong>, in which co-hosts <strong>Dave Rediger<\/strong> and <strong>Mercedes DeSilva<\/strong> have grappled with the absence of departed host <strong>Alex Duquette<\/strong> in between local-color segments and offbeat hijinks, and <strong>LATE NIGHT URGE<\/strong>, in which stand-up comedienne <strong>Ariel Julie<\/strong> lets us in on the most intimate aspects of living single in the big city of <strong>Chicago<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Camp Nostalgia Studios @ YouTube\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@campnostalgicstudios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All the 2025 shows and assorted specials can be viewed right now<\/a><\/span> and the storytellers are on break until they purportedly \u201cshake things up\u201d in 2026. In concert with several other perennials in the Champaign-Urbana scene with a vested interest in such a thing \u2013 <strong>Geoff Merritt<\/strong> of <strong>Parasol Records<\/strong>, <strong>Kim Robeson<\/strong> of <strong>Robeson\u2019s Inc.<\/strong>, <strong>Chuck Koplinski<\/strong> of <strong>Reel Talk with Chuck &amp; Pam<\/strong>, Electric business partner and life partner <strong>Bonnie Burgund<\/strong> \u2013 Young is starting the \u201c<strong>Film Fanatic Movie Nights<\/strong>\u201d as a rallying point for a new appreciation group, stylized as the <strong>Film-Fanatic.Club<\/strong>.<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Film Fanatic Movie Nights :: Official Site\" href=\"https:\/\/www.film-fanatic.club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Per their website where one can keep tabs on events and sign up to become a member or patron<\/a><\/span>, the goal is \u201c[t]o curate themed movie nights, director spotlights, and special screenings that emphasize the shared cinematic experience with films that come alive on the big screen and inspire lively post-screening conversations over drinks. Each screening is treated as an event, complete with introductions, discussions, bonus short subjects, and extras.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In other words, to throw the C-U a sophisticated movie party on the regular. Yes, please! To that lofty end, Young has chosen a doozy of an underappreciated modern film to launch the Movie Nights \u2013 <strong>THE FALL<\/strong>, an opulent fantasia shot over several years and around the world by <strong>Tarsem Singh<\/strong> (<strong>THE CELL<\/strong>) about a laid-up stuntman, played by <strong>Lee Pace<\/strong>, who befriends in the hospital a young girl, played by <strong>Catinca Untaru<\/strong>, and spins tales of high adventure to help keep both of their spirits alive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Released to little fanfare almost twenty years ago and hard to see and appreciate since, <strong>THE FALL<\/strong> has recently undergone a 4K restoration shepherded by Singh and was <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"THE FALL :: MUBI\" href=\"https:\/\/mubi.com\/en\/thefall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">picked up for representation in <strong>North America<\/strong> by the high-end streaming platform <strong>MUBI<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, which has not resulted in either a substantial theatrical re-release or a physical release; on an average day in 2025, those who would like to experience <strong>THE FALL<\/strong> can find several avenues to stream it or <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"THE FALL UHD\/Blu-ray (standard) :: Umbrella Entertainment\" href=\"https:\/\/shop.umbrellaent.com.au\/products\/fall-the-4k-2006-4k-blu-ray\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could seek out a UHD\/Blu-ray import from an Australian label, <strong>Umbrella Entertainment<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, which luckily is region free. MUBI has been scheduling one-off appearances of <strong>THE FALL<\/strong> at prestigious film festivals in our part of the world and, as we now know, offering it for rental. And, as <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Once Bonded, Brew &amp; View thrice :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=10532\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a film buff whose diverse taste could not help but shine through<\/a><\/span> in the pages of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Octopus<\/span><\/strong> (<em>n\u00e9e<\/em> <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Optimist<\/span><\/strong>), the alternative weekly he founded and published in Champaign-Urbana <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018The indie voice of a college town\u2019 by Abigail Bobrow :: \u2018Storied\u2019 magazine, Illinois Advancement, UIUC\" href=\"https:\/\/storied.illinois.edu\/the-octopus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for several years beginning in 1995<\/a><\/span>, he is sure to embrace a wide range of selections for sharing with an audience and keeping it engaging. We hope this debut presentation of <strong>THE FALL<\/strong>, which will be co-hosted by our friend <strong>Nat Dykeman<\/strong> of the <strong>Chambana Film Society<\/strong>, is successful and the start of a reliable showcase that can easily commingle with Chambana and the <strong>CU International Film Festival<\/strong> while replenishing the cinema void to be left once <strong>Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong> bows out for good.
