The 2007 horror-comedy, filmed in various <strong>Illinois<\/strong> locations like <strong>Bloomington-Normal, Decatur<\/strong>, and <strong>Chicago<\/strong> by writer\/director <strong>Jason Huls<\/strong> and his team, is <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"LATE AFTERNOON OF THE LIVING DEAD :: \u2018Ten Wing Media\u2019 channel @ YouTube\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Nk-3V08Lmo4?si=7a1Gi8w_EPSCpNre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available in a shortened and spiffed-up edition<\/a><\/span> on <strong>YouTube<\/strong> if you need a refresher or a belated first look, and we\u2019ll connect a few dots between it and what\u2019s happening now. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Calendar: November 7-13, 2025 :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=16726\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">We recently talked about Huls\u2019 newest film<\/a><\/span>,<strong> THE FAWN<\/strong>, and it will be featured at the <strong>Normal Theater<\/strong> tomorrow night, <strong>Saturday, January 31<\/strong>, in a program sponsored by the boutique label <strong>Severin Films<\/strong>; <strong>FAWN<\/strong> plays before the 1984 feature <strong>EYES OF FIRE<\/strong>, which Severin restored as part of their massive \u201cAll the Haunts be Ours\u201d revival of international folk horror cinema. Also, we confirmed that <strong>LATE AFTERNOON<\/strong> actress <strong>Ashley O\u2019Neil<\/strong> went on to be a screenwriter and script editor in <strong>Hollywood<\/strong> with at least a dozen film credits, according to <strong>IMDb<\/strong>, which include the<strong> Steve Guttenberg<\/strong> sci-fi duo, <strong>LAVALANTUA<\/strong> and <strong>2 LAVA 2 LANTUA<\/strong>, produced by <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> alumnus <strong>Paul Hertzberg<\/strong> for <strong>CineTel Films<\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"\u2018Illinois alum and producer of creature films will be a special guest at this year\u2019s Insect Fear Film Festival\u2019 by Jodi Heckel :: Illinois News Bureau\" href=\"https:\/\/news.illinois.edu\/illinois-alum-and-producer-of-creature-films-will-be-a-special-guest-at-this-years-insect-fear-film-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shown in back-to-back years<\/a><\/span> at the UI <strong>Insect Fear Film Festival<\/strong> at <strong>Foellinger Auditorium<\/strong>. And, in the \u201cno part is too small\u201d arena, we\u2019ve learned that area alum <strong>Britt Lower<\/strong>, who was awarded a prime time <strong>Emmy<\/strong> last year for her performance in the hit television series <strong>SEVERANCE<\/strong>, provided overdubbing for one of the lady leads in <strong>LATE AFTERNOON<\/strong> while she was an undergraduate at <strong>Northwestern University<\/strong>. Sunday at <strong>Savoy 16<\/strong> are the <strong>Champaign Movie Makers<\/strong> 48-hour films, starting at <strong>12:30 p.m.<\/strong>, to be followed by a <em>de facto<\/em> group viewing and talkback of <strong>MOSES THE BLACK<\/strong> at <strong>3 p.m.<\/strong>, to be followed on Tuesday night at the <strong>Orpheum Champaign<\/strong> by a CMM-curated local film block at <strong>7 p.m. <\/strong>as we already shared. Not long after, <strong>Dance at Illinois<\/strong> will have their biennial <strong>Flatlands Dance Film Festival<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Flatlands Dance Film Festival @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FDFF2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coming up on <strong>Friday, February 6<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, at the UI <strong>Spurlock Museum<\/strong> at <strong>7 p.m.<\/strong>; this is the \u201cshort film competition\u201d program. As well, <strong>Paul Young<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Film Fanatic Movie Nights<\/strong> returns for its sophomore outing with <strong>Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong>\u2019s recut of his fantastical <strong>ONE FROM THE HEART<\/strong>, starring <strong>Teri Garr, Raul Julia, Frederic Forrest, Harry Dean Stanton<\/strong>, and <strong>Nastassja Kinski<\/strong>, at <strong>6 p.m.<\/strong> in the heart of Urbana\u2019s <strong>Gallery Art Bar<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Film-Fanatic.Club @ Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/film.fanatic.club\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the following night, <strong>Saturday, February 7<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.
