We apologize for not posting consistently as a heady case of summertime <em>ennui <\/em>decided to zap us at the conclusion of that fun stretch we like to call \u201cApril.\u201d And even though it has little to do with the movies of <strong>Champaign, Urbana<\/strong>, and the cities beyond, our next post will help you understand what else is dampening our motivation at the moment. Since we\u2019ve let a lot slide over the past several weeks, we\u2019re plotting on how to make up ground without grinding out detailed, knowing blurbage on every single little thing. We love you all, <em>but<\/em>\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Resurrecting our old \u201c<strong>Coming Soon<\/strong>\u201d feature seemed to be a timely remedy. We\u2019re embarrassed to note that it\u2019s been <a title=\"Coming Soon: Nov-Dec 2008 :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=306\" target=\"_blank\">nearly two years since we ran it last<\/a>, although its strength \u2013 detailing the notable film events in our area having nothing to do with <strong>Hollywood <\/strong>blockbusters \u2013 runs counter to how we\u2019ve rolled lately, where the news about the makers and their films comes first. We believe a hybrid weekly column may be the answer. Therefore, we\u2019d like to try out \u201c<strong>C-U Biz-en-sc\u00e8ne<\/strong>\u201d and see how well it rocks you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The concept here is that \u201canything goes\u201d as long as it makes sense within the context of our reporting. Some weeks it may be short and sweet, other weeks it may be long and wondrous. We\u2019ll mix in play dates, production reports, first news, media links, quick jabs, and all sorts of other goodness and goofiness as it comes down the pike here at the <strong>Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters<\/strong>. Please support the artists and their work, attend screenings and events, and otherwise become active in our esoteric little world!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>PRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A benefit featuring actor <strong>Terry O\u2019Quinn<\/strong> of <strong>LOST <\/strong>and <strong>THE STEPFATHER<\/strong> fame will take place this <strong>Saturday, July 31, 8 p.m.<\/strong>, at the <strong>Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave., Chicago, IL<\/strong>, to raise production funds for the independent feature drama <strong>USING<\/strong>, which officially began shooting a couple of weeks ago in the <strong>Bloomington-Normal<\/strong> area. The <strong>Hollywood <\/strong>actor is the sibling of <strong><a title=\"USING :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usingthemovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">USING<\/a> <\/strong>writer\/director and <strong>Illinois Wesleyan University<\/strong> professor <strong>Thomas Quinn<\/strong>, who formed the non-profit group <a title=\"Phenom Features :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.phenomfeatures.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Phenom Features<\/strong><\/a> earlier this year with cinematographer <strong>Peter Gray<\/strong> and actress <strong>Kymberly Harris<\/strong> of <strong>Fresh Bread Productions<\/strong> and <strong>TheatresCool<\/strong>. According to press information, the event will \u201cfeature cocktails, hors d\u2019oeuvres, entertainment, a silent auction, and selected clips of the film\u201d while some proceeds will be donated to <strong>Salvation Army Safe Harbor Shelters<\/strong>. They can be any genre but must be all-ages appropriate, run 4 minutes or less, and feature LLCU marketing elements as <a title=\"21 Film Project :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.21filmproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">described on the official Web site<\/a>. The top entries will be shown on <strong>Saturday, August 28, 4 p.m.<\/strong>, at the <strong>Decatur Civic Center, #1 Gary K.
