You can\u00a0<a title=\"2007 ACE Award winners @ 40North.org\" href=\"http:\/\/www.40north.org\/\/ace_awards\/ace_winners_2007.html\" target=\"_blank\">visit this page\u00a0to read all the details<\/a> after we note the significance that, for the first time, ACEs have gone to the movies. Sort of.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">During the <strong>October\u00a018<\/strong> awards ceremony at <strong>SOMA Ultralounge<\/strong> in Champaign, local documentary filmmaker <strong>Jay Rosenstein<\/strong> took home this year&#8217;s <strong>Media ACE<\/strong> for <strong>THE AMASONG CHORUS: SINGING OUT<\/strong> while <strong>Mary Susan Britt<\/strong> accepted the <strong>Spotlight ACE<\/strong> on behalf of <strong>Roger Ebert&#8217;s Overlooked Film Festival<\/strong>, now formally known as <strong>Ebertfest<\/strong>.\u00a0A hearty <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> congratulations to both!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Unfortunately, I can&#8217;t do the same just yet for 40 North and its affiliates, who have now orchestrated three years of ACEs without establishing an official equivalent (to the best of my knowledge) that recognizes actual <em>artistic<\/em> achievement by those whom the council claims to support. Our community has no problem doing so elsewhere &#8211; the fabled <strong>music scene<\/strong> comes to mind &#8211; so what&#8217;s the hesitation here?<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Oh, wait a minute.
