So, what’s in an acronym, anyway? I feel sometimes that the “C-U” in C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> and C-U Confidential<\/strong> may be hampering our reach because media creatives outside of our city limits – but within other city limits not too far away\u00a0– believe that it’s not also “for them.” If you read the C-U family regularly, including the C-U Confidential Telegraph<\/a><\/strong>, you would simply know better. One person that “gets it” wholeheartedly is John Fischer<\/strong> of the Bloomington Public Library<\/strong>, who is trusting that area movie makers outside of Bloomington-Normal<\/strong> will consider submitting their short film productions for inclusion in the festival that he coordinates.<\/p>\n

Scheduled for Tuesday, May 13<\/strong>, and Wednesday, May 14<\/strong>, at the Normal Theater<\/a><\/strong>, the BNFilmfest<\/strong> has provided its citizens an annual outlet since 2003 to show off their projects to the hometown folks. Currently, the Filmfest reserves the first night as an all-ages show while the second night features “indie” material for the college students and grown-ups. Fischer wants to expand the scope of his programs by appealing to artists living … wait for it … within other city limits not too far away<\/em> from his own twin cities. If you’re down with playing your mini-epic amidst the Redbird Nation<\/strong> in what is shaping up to be the only true “local film” event in downstate Illinois, then you can snag a submission form from the official Filmfest Web site<\/a>. Entries are being accepted now through Friday, May 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
