We know damn well that this isn&#8217;t merely\u00a0<em>en vogue<\/em> carping from filmmakers, because &#8220;the\u00a0lag&#8221; battles artisans of all walks every day.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">That said, the hiatus that has quieted my virtual home-away-from-home, <a title=\"Eye Trauma Comix :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eyetrauma.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Eye Trauma Comix<\/strong><\/a>, is about to end when the 176-page hardcover graphic novel, <u><strong>The Hole: Consumer Culture<\/strong><\/u>, becomes available through Chicago-based <strong>Front Forty Press<\/strong> in April. Written and lettered\u00a0by <strong>MICRO-FILM<\/strong> contributor <strong>Damian Duffy<\/strong> and illustrated by <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> design instructor <strong>John Jennings<\/strong>, this dark and ultra-stylized satire involves a man whose demonic abdominal orifice sucks down a host of metaphorical foibles and vices as\u00a0his urban\u00a0world of high rises and ghettoes\u00a0&#8211; along with\u00a0the integrity of African-American culture &#8211; faces a crossroads.
