The past year has brought about shifts in the\u00a0trajectory of C-U Blogfidential<\/strong>,\u00a0the only Web site dedicated to filmmaking and movie viewing in downstate Illinois. A lot of work and thought went into Year 2<\/strong> and I’m beginning to realize that what transipres in Year 3<\/strong> will possibly make or break its full potential.<\/p>\n

As outlined in last year’s\u00a0update<\/a>, we didn’t achieve everything we set out to do. This\u00a0can be blamed on the\u00a0bug that inexplicably climbed my chimney and breathed life into the MICRO-FILM News Blog<\/a><\/strong> as well as freelance work\u00a0I took on to alleviate MICRO-FILM<\/strong> debt. Something else happened on CUBlog<\/strong> that wasn’t planned – the appearence of opinion pieces\u00a0and constructive criticisms of Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> culture\u00a0along with increased events listings\u00a0– which took away time from the usual writing.<\/p>\n

We did<\/em> manage to achieve half of our goals. While the Clean Slate<\/strong> open posts bombed, decreasing the likelihood of forums or message boards on CUBlog<\/strong>, the first issue of C-U Confidential<\/strong> appeared at Ebertfest 2007<\/strong> and did well enough to warrant the follow-up now in the works. Instead of a Newsgroup<\/strong>, we launched a Mailing List<\/strong> in December called the C-U Confidential Telegraph<\/strong> which will connect media-makers in a more direct manner. (However, for this to work effectively, you have<\/em> to sign up<\/a>.) Finally, while the Design Adjustments<\/strong> and addition of Archival Material<\/strong> are yet to come, we finished off Year\u00a02<\/strong> with a bang by adding information, essays, and downloads\u00a0to all the Pages<\/strong> while beefing up our Links<\/strong> listing.<\/p>\n

Upgrades\u00a0during the next 12 months will most likely entail:<\/p>\n
