That&#8217;s too bad because, <a title=\"SMILE AND NOD thread @ IlliniFilmandVideo.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.illinifilmandvideo.com\/forum\/viewtopic.php?t=3526\" target=\"_blank\">as your humble editor recently discovered<\/a>, none other than <strong>Amy Poynton<\/strong> &#8211; &#8220;Missy&#8221; (um, I mean, Mom) in the 1989 comedy &#8211; is\u00a0a current faculty member at the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong>. Considering how potentially self-important an event this could be, levity in the form of someone who knew Honest Abe back when he learned to party on, dudes, would probably be a smart addition to draw all the hep kids out there.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Regardless, this (most likely) one-time event certainly tops the <strong>James Jones<\/strong> program from the fall (see item: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=203\">9\/13\/07<\/a>) as the most red-blooded American film festival to appear in the C-U area\u00a0during the recent explosion of specialty and ethnic showcases. I have to be honest\u00a0and say\u00a0that I haven&#8217;t exactly been falling over myself to rush out and attend; the Asian cinema fests have been the only ones to\u00a0tempt my fancy. I just wish that somebody in this town had the balls and know-how to launch what we <em>really<\/em> need\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0an annual exploration of motion pictures that are mysterious, gritty, political, challenging, psychedelic, and purely mind-blowing. You know\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0<em>freaky<\/em> films.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Finally, when did the\u00a0<strong><u>News-Gazette<\/u><\/strong> Web site start overflowing with entertainment features?
