After taking a few days off to rest up and gather together some restless thoughts, your humble editor returns! During the summer months I’ll be posting numerous items of interest, strewn in between installments of an exclusive overview of the tenth Roger Ebert’s Film Festival<\/strong> by MICRO-FILM<\/strong> scribe Anthony Zoubek<\/strong>. His insightful work will mark the first multi-part feature to appear on C-U Blogfidential<\/strong> and we couldn’t be happier to welcome him aboard.<\/p>\n

Soon, we’ll discuss local DVD releases, the semi-sequel to Dark Maze Studios<\/strong>‘ PRESS START<\/strong>, the Essence Films<\/strong> short PRELUDE<\/strong>, an outreach event to be presented by the Illinois Film Office<\/strong>, visiting New York filmmaker Johnny Robinson<\/strong>, the production of THE INFORMANT<\/strong> in Decatur<\/strong>, the rise of THE TRANSIENT<\/strong>, potential C-U Confidential<\/strong> spin-offs, and – are you sitting down? – the return of MICRO-FILM<\/strong> in the fall! We’ll also begin the long-mooted “filmography of a small town” and interview the filmmaking likes of Brandon Clayton<\/strong> (ZOMBIE MOVIE<\/strong>), Thomas Bender<\/strong> (HOOPESTON<\/strong>), and Craig Lindvahl<\/strong> and Joseph Fatheree<\/strong> (COBB FIELD<\/strong>). Heck, we might even crack open a can or two of worms just because constructive criticism is good for Champaign<\/strong>, Urbana<\/strong>, and the cities beyond!<\/p>\n

Finally, mark on your calendars a reminder to attend the other<\/em> end-of-semester cinema event, BNFilmFest<\/a><\/strong>, which will take place Tuesday, May 13<\/strong>, and Wednesday, May 14<\/strong>, at the Normal Theater<\/strong> in downtown Normal<\/strong>. Start time is 7 p.m.<\/strong> both nights. Look for me there on the second, “indie” evening!<\/p>\n
