Filmed in <strong>Champaign-Urbana<\/strong> this past spring on a <strong>Panasonic DVX100a<\/strong> MiniDV camera, <strong>SAMSARA\u00a02<\/strong> continues a collaborative streak between recent\u00a0<strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> graduates Murthy and <strong>Sam Copeland<\/strong> that includes <strong>SAMSARA 1<\/strong> and\u00a0the kitchen-sink opus, <strong>JEAN SHORTS<\/strong>, both of which are also posted at the same Vimeo account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Whereas the first <strong>SAMSARA<\/strong> concentrated on the hapless methods by which a student named Roshan\u00a0(Roshan Murthy) attempts to win back\u00a0his girlfriend, classmate Jeff\u00a0(<strong>Jeff Chapman<\/strong>) experiences a sort of in-body time travel\u00a0during <strong>SAMSARA 2<\/strong> as intensifying atmospheric shifts threaten to engulf Earth. Coincidences alert Jeff that his power could possibly help stop the cataclysm if he\u00a0warns people in the past, but the quest to glean information from a recluse (<strong>Michael Bach<\/strong>) might not provide the answers he expects. Jeff&#8217;s desperation seems\u00a0far removed from Roshan&#8217;s loopy self-denial, yet both characters can&#8217;t help but feel lost given the cosmic forces at work, a scenario extrapolated from Indian\u00a0mythology in which\u00a0the last of four cyclical ages &#8211; the <strong>Kali Yuga<\/strong> &#8211; ends in total destruction of the mortal world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>SAMSARA: Episode 2<\/strong> is a production of <strong>Byougman Films<\/strong> and <strong>Dookiefireball<\/strong>. It was written, produced, and directed by Sam Copeland and Roshan Murthy, and stars Jeff Chapman, Michael Bach, Roshan Murthy, Sam Copeland, <strong>Abhay Prasad, Michael Rettic, Sarol Saha, Ryan Smith, Matt Strick<\/strong>, and <strong>Kevin Walsh<\/strong>.
