Our friend <strong>Robin Murray<\/strong> from <strong>Eastern Illinois University<\/strong> let us know their <strong>Central Illinois Feminist Film Festival<\/strong> is accepting entries from now until <strong>Tuesday, March 1<\/strong>, and there is no fee. Group run by long-time <strong>MICRO-FILM<\/strong> friend <strong>Allen Richards<\/strong>, we also learned entries were being accepted for the <strong>Underground Horror Fest Part II<\/strong> until <strong>Monday, February 20<\/strong>. It will take place <strong>Saturday, March 5<\/strong>, at the <strong>Rose Bowl Event Center<\/strong> in <strong>Tulsa, OK<\/strong>, located on the original U.S. Route 66. This screening\/merchant event is co-sponsored by Tulsa\u2019s <strong>Art Sunday Artist Agency<\/strong> and <strong>Seattle<\/strong>\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>CultCuts Magazine<\/strong><\/span>, the latter of which both Richards and your humble editor assumed had folded years ago; apparently, personnel health issues forced <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CultCuts<\/span> to go on hiatus before reemerging in 2009. The most substantial linkage involves an audio interview with <strong>Art Theater<\/strong> owner <strong>Sanford Hess<\/strong> as part of <a title=\"SmilePolitely Radio Podcast feat. Sanford Hess, 1\/28\/11 :: SmilePolitely.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smilepolitely.com\/news\/sp_radio_podcast_sanford_hess_from_the_art_theater\/\" target=\"_blank\">last week\u2019s <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">SmilePolitely<\/span> Radio Podcast<\/strong><\/a> conducted at the <strong>WEFT 90.1 FM<\/strong> studios with hosts <strong>John Steinbacher<\/strong> and <strong>Jason Brown<\/strong>; discussion covers Hess\u2019 first full year on the job, the difficulty booking films based on studio whims, and upcoming special events including the <strong>New Art Film Festival<\/strong> which you <em>all <\/em>should attend on <strong>April 8<\/strong>. We also received a recommendation from comrade <strong>Mike Boedicker<\/strong> to sift through <a title=\"Olive Films :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.olivefilms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">the eclectic indie and art house video catalogue of <strong>Olive Films<\/strong><\/a>, based in the far west <strong>Chicago <\/strong>suburb of <strong>St. Charles<\/strong>; of interest is a schedule of limited-release contemporary foreign films intermixed with obscure American features and documentaries. The main man <strong>Bill Kephart<\/strong> twisted his rabbit ears just right and located Web documentation that outlines in base language <a title=\"&quot;Use of Univesity Name, Image or Logos&quot; :: University of Illinois, U-C\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fs.uiuc.edu\/CAM\/CAM\/iii\/iii-16.html\" target=\"_blank\">what one must do in order to obtain formal permission to photograph or record the <strong>University of Illinois<\/strong> campus<\/a> and anything on it; the angle mainly addresses commercial reproduction and trademark licensing, but is somewhat unclear about how stringent UIUC might be towards lo- and no-budget artistic work or student films. Last but certainly not least, our favorite source for on-line horror <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DreadCentral<\/span>.com<\/strong> reposted <a title=\"DRAG resurrected by director Mark Pavia :: DreadCentral.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dreadcentral.com\/news\/42334\/dig-mark-pavias-16mm-zombie-short-drag\" target=\"_blank\">a sepia-toned blast from the past<\/a>, the 35-minute 16mm zombie chiller <strong>DRAG <\/strong>which was filmed in south Chicago suburb <strong>Lockport <\/strong>by filmmaker <strong>Mark Pavia<\/strong> (<strong>THE NIGHT FLIER<\/strong>) way back in 1993 while attending <strong>Columbia College<\/strong> in the city; your humble editor first saw <strong>DRAG <\/strong>later the same year at a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Fangoria<\/strong><\/span> convention and it holds up very well today.
