{"id":2889,"date":"2011-02-12T11:04:47","date_gmt":"2011-02-12T17:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=2889"},"modified":"2014-09-06T14:54:57","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T20:54:57","slug":"iow-winter-wonder-lands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=2889","title":{"rendered":"IOW: WINTER wonder lands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Curiously, the crazy winter weather last week thwarted a private unveiling of <strong>Alaric Rocha<\/strong>\u2019s new short film, <strong>WINTER <\/strong>(formerly <strong>WINTER IN LOUISIANA<\/strong>), at the <strong>Oreana <\/strong>home of his parents near where it was filmed just over a year ago. Even though the storm pretty much failed to stop central <strong>Illinois <\/strong>in its tracks like originally feared, Rocha opted to postpone celebration and unveil the goods on-line! Here\u2019s your first look at this vignette, wherein a chain gang prisoner played by <strong>Michael Anthony Pierce<\/strong> finds inspiration to sever his bonds and run for the hills:<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"450\" height=\"274\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ePvHzHCuGds?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"450\" height=\"274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ePvHzHCuGds?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We\u2019re going to sort-of spoil one little aspect the short doesn\u2019t quite make clear, in our opinion \u2013 the escapee with his head in the clouds apparently is whisked away from the clutches of the seen-it-all patrol officers and their strangely adorable guard dog (essayed by <strong>Magnus<\/strong>, for those keeping score) by a big man <em>in <\/em>the clouds. Otherwise, we dig the timeless \u201crealistic\u201d look affected by the Super 8 stock and the ambient soundtrack which suffices in setting the tone without any deliberate dialogue.
