Friday, October 3 <\/strong>through Sunday, October 5<\/strong>:\u00a0The sixth AEMS Asian Film Festival<\/strong> presents current cinema\u00a0about being “Young in Japan.” A revolving schedule includes the features TASTE OF TEA, KAMIKAZE GIRLS, HINOKIO, WINGS OF DEFEAT, TRAIN MAN<\/strong>, and JOSEE,\u00a0THE TIGER AND THE FISH<\/strong>. Saturday, October 4, 7 p.m.<\/strong>: The acclaimed independent film THE VISITOR<\/strong>, about a retired professor who forges a relationship with illegal immigrants that have moved into his Manhattan apartment, afforded actor Richard Jenkins<\/strong> his first lead role after a long career of character work. Jenkins, a 1969 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University<\/strong> in Bloomington<\/strong>, will attend this presentation with co-star Danai Jekesai Gurira<\/strong>, whose parents also attended IWU. Thursday, October 9,\u00a05:30 p.m.<\/strong>: The IPRH Film Series<\/strong>\u00a0continues with a screening and discussion of\u00a0HEARTS OF DARKNESS: A FILMMAKER’S APOCALYPSE<\/strong>\u00a0(1991), directed by\u00a0Fax Bahr<\/strong>\u00a0with George Hickenlooper<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0featuring Francis Ford Coppola<\/strong>, and how it relates to the year-long theme of \u201cDisciplinarity: Films on Film.\u201d The series will continue with ED WOOD<\/strong> (1994, Oct. 30) and SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN<\/strong> (1952, Nov. 13).
