{"id":2919,"date":"2011-02-19T17:51:05","date_gmt":"2011-02-19T23:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=2919"},"modified":"2014-09-06T14:54:57","modified_gmt":"2014-09-06T20:54:57","slug":"iow-haley-disconnects-on-dvd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=2919","title":{"rendered":"IOW: Haley disconnects on DVD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There\u2019s not much we can tell you about the brand-new DVD release of the <strong>Dreamscape Cinema<\/strong> production <strong>DISCONNECT<\/strong>, written and directed by <strong>Robin Christian<\/strong> of <strong>Monticello<\/strong>, that distributor <strong>Osiris Entertainment<\/strong> hasn\u2019t already <a title=\"DISCONNECT @ Osiris Entertainment\" href=\"http:\/\/www.osirisent.com\/details.php?products_id=338&amp;categories_id=\" target=\"_blank\">outlined on their Web site<\/a>. So, let\u2019s skip right to the part where we show you the cover artwork. Unlike <a title=\"IOW: Dreamscape goes to dogs :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=2463\" target=\"_blank\">the old-fashioned look of <strong>Questar<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>SHEEBA<\/strong><\/a> packaging, <strong>DISCONNECT <\/strong>feels marketed to audiences in the here and now:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"DISCONNECT (Osiris Entertainment)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/Images\/CUBlog Art\/cu_disconnect_dvd.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"639\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Streeting nationwide last <strong>Tuesday, February 15<\/strong>, <strong><a title=\"DISCONNECT :: Official Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.disconnectmovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">DISCONNECT<\/a> <\/strong>originally went into production the summer of 2004 in <strong>Champaign County<\/strong> and tells the tale of collegiate fine artist Haley (<strong>Steffany Huckabee<\/strong>) who is working through the tragedy of her mother\u2019s untimely death with support from her father Russell (<strong>Holmes Osborne<\/strong>) and best friend Cathy (<strong>Amanda Troop<\/strong>). Late one night, Haley rediscovers a vintage telephone toy she played with as a child and realizes it can facilitate conversations with people in their past lives. She and Cathy soon make ill-advised attempts to change the course of history and prevent the passing of Sonya (<strong>Devorah Richards<\/strong>) since Haley believes foul play was involved, accidentally incriminating her boyfriend Dylan (<strong>Michael Muhney<\/strong>) and forcing a local sheriff (<strong>Eddie Jones<\/strong>) to reopen a case he\u2019d rather remain closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After the near-decade that has passed between pre-production and domestic release, we\u2019re disappointed so few supplemental materials made it to the <strong>DISCONNECT <\/strong>and <strong>SHEEBA <\/strong>discs, although the former trumps the latter simply because it <em>has <\/em>extras, however modest. Osiris added a photo gallery \u2013 certainly welcome if the images are quality, even though we\u2019ll always prefer to peruse such things in print \u2013 and a trailer, piquing our interest only for the fact that we\u2019ve found <em>two <\/em>of them on-line and wonder which one made it to the DVD. First, observe the edit posted to Osiris\u2019 <strong>YouTube<\/strong> channel, basically the long-existent Dreamscape cut with the distributor\u2019s logo added at the beginning:<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"450\" height=\"274\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/kMbVpZ6AEts?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"450\" height=\"274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/kMbVpZ6AEts?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We also found an alternate on the channel of voice-over artist <strong>Kurt Kelly<\/strong> which runs approximately 10 seconds shorter, substitutes or excises numerous shots, and features his throaty hyperbole. Given some of the other Osiris trailers uploaded by Kelly, we\u2019re guessing the distributor hires him to audibly dress up promos they cut together in-house:<\/p>\n<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"450\" height=\"274\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/NzjjOBvv01Q?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"450\" height=\"274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/NzjjOBvv01Q?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Actors Muhney, Troop, and Jones would return to <strong>MICRO-FILM Country<\/strong> the year after filming <strong>DISCONNECT <\/strong>to appear in the next Dreamscape feature, <strong>ACT YOUR AGE<\/strong>, which Christian tells <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>is on the cusp of landing its own United States distribution.
