While developing the special full-color insert that will appear in the next issue of <strong>C-U Confidential<\/strong> digest, celebrating the 5th anniversary of this very forum, we hit upon the idea of presenting favorite links to our past. We\u2019ve chosen five to fete in the insert, which will debut as a stand-alone freebie exclusively at the <strong>Art Theater<\/strong> in downtown <strong>Champaign <\/strong>on <strong>Friday, April 8<\/strong>, during the next <strong>New Art Film Festival<\/strong>. We\u2019ve also selected other items that we\u2019d love to share with you on <strong>C-U Blogfidential<\/strong>, starting right now!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For the next six weeks, we will post weekly groupings of five key posts from our first five years and tell you a little bit about why we chose the ones we did. We shout out to IMCFF originators <strong>Nicole Pion<\/strong> and <strong>Katy Vizdal<\/strong>, whose passion, instincts, and warmth made collaboration a joy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"Hef gives money to USC, not UIUC :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=231\" target=\"_blank\">\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hef gives money to USC, not UIUC<\/span>,\u201d 11\/20\/07<\/a> \u2013 During a roughly two-year period, many developments simply got our goat for some reason or another; this insubstantial complaint at least gave us a good excuse to rail against our friendly neighborhood U. for not making a substantial attempt to offer film production studies. We shout out to <strong>Hugh Hefner<\/strong> for putting his money where his mouth is for art\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"'Scary' reprint is Sven-tastic! :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=175\" target=\"_blank\">\u201c\u2018<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Scary\u2019 reprint is Sven-tastic!<\/span>\u201d 5\/27\/07<\/a> \u2013 More than most, this entry provides a little perspective as to your humble editor\u2019s genre specific sensibilities prior to launching <strong>MICRO-FILM<\/strong> and then <strong>CUBlog<\/strong>, through which he broadened his tastes a hundredfold. We shout out to inspiration <strong>Dennis Druktenis<\/strong> who has been self-publishing <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Scary Monsters<\/strong><\/span> magazine for nearly 20 years in northern <strong>Illinois<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"Where art thou, NORMAL LIFE? :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=80\" target=\"_blank\">\u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Where art thou, NORMAL LIFE?<\/span>\u201d 8\/11\/06<\/a> \u2013 At times, we still wonder if our name encourages filmmakers and potential readers who reside in nearby cities to gloss over <strong>CUBlog<\/strong>, errantly believing it\u2019s not also for their enjoyment and use.
