We resume our regular <strong>Biz<\/strong>-ness this week in abbreviated form, but with good reason! Your humble editor just finished up the fabled full-color insert appearing in the next issue of <strong>C-U Confidential<\/strong>, officially titled <strong>C-U Blogfidential Exceeds the Fifth!<\/strong>, that will hit the twin cities next <strong>Friday, April 8<\/strong>, starting exclusively at the <strong>Art Theater<\/strong> in <strong>Champaign <\/strong>during the <strong>New Art Film Festival<\/strong>! Of course, our attentions also include the NAFF itself as Art guru <strong>Sanford Hess<\/strong> and mistress of magic <strong>Lisa Cerezo<\/strong> have been helping shore it up for prime time; watch this space as well as <a title=\"The Art Theater :: Home Page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecuart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Art\u2019s Web site<\/a>, our new <a title=\"New Art Film Festival @ Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/newartfilmfestival\" target=\"_blank\">NAFF <strong>Facebook<\/strong> page<\/a>, and the local press for previews and interviews about the films and filmmakers we\u2019re featuring this year! On top of all this \u2013 or crushed underneath, depending on our vantage point at any given moment \u2013 is <strong>CUZine <\/strong>itself, still on track to take on the C-U beginning <strong>Wednesday, April 27<\/strong>, the first day of <strong>Roger Ebert\u2019s Film Festival<\/strong>! But wait, there\u2019s even <em>more<\/em> relevant goodness taking place during this time frame \u2026 although you should continue reading to learn about it for yourselves. Away we go!<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 3em; text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>SUBMISSIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our friend <strong>John Fischer<\/strong> of the <strong>Bloomington Public Library<\/strong> just alerted <strong>CUBlog <\/strong>that the <strong>B\/N Short Film Festival<\/strong> (a.k.a. <strong>BNFilmFest<\/strong>) will return this year on <strong>Tuesday, May 10<\/strong>, and <strong>Wednesday, May 11<\/strong>, at the <strong>Normal Theater<\/strong> in downtown <strong>Normal, IL<\/strong>. Submissions will be accepted until <strong>Wednesday, April 20<\/strong>, <a title=\"B\/N Short Film Festival @ NormalTheater.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.normaltheater.com\/bnfilmfest\/\" target=\"_blank\">according to the revived Web site<\/a>, which provides more specific detail than in the past. Awkward phrasing implies all entries should be made by college-aged filmmakers or younger \u2013 we <em>could <\/em>be reading that wrong, so ask before you apply \u2013 yet the organizers make it quite clear the material must be appropriate for a family audience. This apparently means the previous \u201cfirst day for everyone, second day for a mature audience\u201d schema is kaput. If your work fits the criteria, though, pursue it by all means!<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 3em; text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Local filmmaker <strong>Jay Rosenstein<\/strong> let us know Thursday his most recent work, <strong>THE LORD IS NOT ON TRIAL HERE TODAY<\/strong>, has won a <strong>Peabody Award<\/strong>, the oldest and most prestigious honor given to producers each year for significant achievements in television, film, radio, and new media. Thirty-nine recipients were chosen this year by the Peabody committee, headquartered at the <strong>University of Georgia-Athens<\/strong>, and announced earlier this week. <a title=\"70th annual Peabody Awards announced :: Peabody.UGA.edu\" href=\"http:\/\/peabody.uga.edu\/news\/event.php?id=73\" target=\"_blank\">The official press release<\/a> calls <strong>TRIAL <\/strong>an \u201cartfully assembled documentary [which] examined the landmark court case that established separation of church and state in public schools.\u201d <a title=\"Vashti McCollum documentary wins Peabody :: WILL Illinois Public Media\" href=\"http:\/\/will.illinois.edu\/site\/headline\/mccollum-documentary-wins-peabody-award\/\" target=\"_blank\">Also read this post<\/a> from sponsor station <strong>WILL-TV Channel 12<\/strong>, briefly running down the accolades <strong>TRIAL <\/strong>has amassed in recent months since <a title=\"C-U Biz-en-sc\u00e8ne: 10.15.2010 :: C-U Blogfidential\" href=\"https:\/\/www.micro-film-magazine.com\/cublog\/?p=2227\" target=\"_blank\">its public and televised unveiling back in the fall<\/a>. Independent Film Festival<\/strong> in our nation\u2019s capital!
